That’s a wrap! Mixed emotions last few weeks / knowing this day was getting closer and I think they’ll hang around for a little while longer! Been a hell of a ride across a number of clubs, and different levels. Enjoy every moment, it’s over before you know it. Memories made 💙
AFC Sudbury@AFCSudbury

Captain Jake Turner to Retire at End of Season AFC Sudbury can confirm that club captain Jake Turner has announced he will retire from football at the end of the current season. JT, who has been a central figure both on and off the pitch, will bring the curtain down on a distinguished spell with the club having made 214 appearances and scored 12 goals for the Suds. Since joining the Suds, Jake has embodied everything the club stands for – commitment, leadership, and passion. Appointed captain ahead of the 2023/24 season, he has led the side with distinction during one of the most competitive periods in the club’s history. One of the standout moments of his career came when he scored the winning goal in the Isthmian League North Division play-off final, securing Step 3 football for the club – a moment that will live long in the memory of supporters. Speaking on his decision, JT said: "After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that this will be my final season playing football. 600+ games, a few screamers, more tackles, and now out! The last 5 years here at AFC has been a roller coaster! There have been some really amazing moments - 1st round of the FA Cup, play off success and winning goal, Great Escape times two and arguably the most difficult ending with this year's relegation. It’s been a privilege to captain at this club. No matter the challenges, I’ve always tried to lead in the right way and give everything I can. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me during my time here - from the gaffers past and present, to the volunteers, to all the players and of course the fans. I wish the club all the best moving forward - over and out - JT." Current AFC Sudbury Manager David Hennessey comments, “I’m going to keep it simple and just say thank you to an incredible servant to this football club. The word legend is thrown around quite casually in football, but JT is without doubt a Sudbury legend. Thank you skip.” Jake will continue to lead the side for the remainder of the season, with supporters encouraged to show their appreciation as he makes his final appearances in an AFC Sudbury shirt. Everyone at AFC Sudbury would like to thank Jake for his outstanding service wishes him all the best in whatever he does next. Thank you JT. Captain. Leader. Legend.

Is it not about time the government look at the amount of taxation there is on fuel and reduce it. Instead of blaming the oil companies. @labourpress

Still unbeaten in our last seven games. After a two-hour journey there and a long trip home, we leave @NewmarketTownFC with one point. Scott and I are immensely proud of this group of players, their attitude, their work rate, and the way they continue to represent this club week in, week out. They gave everything again tonight, and they deserve real credit for that. @MikeFaulkner_ was fantastic again tonight and got us on the scoreboard, supported by the rest of the team. We are equally proud of our supporters. A strong group travelled midweek, covered serious miles, backed the team for 90 minutes, and conducted themselves properly throughout. That loyalty does not go unnoticed. It matters to this club, and it matters to the players. I always notice social media of home clubs thanking the home fans for supporting but never mentioning the away fans who came and travelled for hours to get there on a Tuesday night which was cold and dark. Scott and I will continue to back these boys wherever they go. Win, lose, or draw, that support is non-negotiable. Much Credit also to Newmarket Town FC for the facilities and the half-time hospitality, which was appreciated. Especially the tea as it was so chilly tonight! It was good to see former Maldon players in the Newmarket side and to see one of them on the scoresheet. Josh is a very good player. Newmarket’s number 8, Lennon King, i think on loan from Cambridge United, another team with the Maldon connection through the amazing Neil Harris who i got to meet for the first time this weekend, was also excellent. He was quick, composed, and in control throughout. A real standout and a credit to this club. Most Newmarket supporters were welcoming and respectful. A small minority were not. Rude, insecure, attention-seeking behaviour has no place in non-league football. @Lockwood13Wayne was particularly keen to make himself known, for all the wrong reasons. A scruffy little man with no manners whatsoever, demanding his 15 mins of fame, so i am happy to oblige. Another stalker/keyboard warrior with time on his hands to sit and abuse anyone who does not fit his narrative. Away supporters should not be seen as the problem, they are the lifeblood of this level of football. They travel for hours, spend money in bars and food outlets, and help keep clubs running. Baiting or bullying visiting fans only ensures they won’t return, and that damages clubs, not opposition supporters. Especially fans that bring a bunch of fans with them and also ensure you have the best Tuesday night attendance you have had in the past 5 years! Non-league football should not be about online abuse, posturing, or mob mentality. It is about football, community, and hosting properly. Baiting a team about their financial status when clearly most clubs in the leagues at this level don't have much stability is crude and common. Each club attracts the players it has and can get because of what is on offer to that player. You offer what you can and hope for the best. Some are in a better position than others and thats ok too. Clearly you can still win a point, and be in the mid range section of the league even on your budget. So don't get eat up on what others are paying their players. It all works out in the end! Despite the distance, the conditions, and the behaviour of a few, we travelled to support our players and the matchday operation. We would do it again without hesitation. That is why we go. That is what this game should always be about for everyone, but most of all, it is the clubs responsibility to make sure the environment is a safe place for all those that visit, both physically and mentally, for players and visitors alike. Up the Jammers!

Yes @AFCSudbury are not in the position we all hoped for this season. But turning on our own is not the way we need to go. Let's stick together and trust in what the board and CEO are saying/doing even if we don't agree with all. Up the yellows
