One thing many people forget about the D1 transfer portal: Some of these young men aren’t leaving by choice — they’re being forced out. Scholarships get pulled. Numbers change. Staffs “cut them loose” and tell them to find a new home. It’s not always what you think. I’m an old head, no doubt — but loyalty goes both ways. You can’t preach commitment and sacrifice, then make “business decisions” and act surprised when kids protect themselves. I keep saying it: You can’t blame the youngsters when the adults have royally screwed this whole thing up.
