@ScottSm00 @LtGovPinnell I think we agree on this. I think involving more people is a path to some depolarization. Do you think there is a better way?
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell Polarized politics is the sole function of the current political system. All it does is polarize people by design. Partisan polarization is used as a cover for bad leadership and to shield political power from accountability.
English

All respect to @LtGovPinnell, but if those values represent the will of the voters, wouldn’t the same people win? The goal shouldn’t be for R’s to win, the goal should be for Oklahomans to win by electing serious people who want to work for Oklahomans, not a party.
Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell@LtGovPinnell
My statement in response to Oklahoma United’s press conference regarding open primary elections.

@TulParentsVoice @RyanWaltersSupt @BixbyPSSupt I’ve enjoyed our back and forth this morning. Looking forward to the next one. Have a great day!

Hi Pot. Meet Kettle. Don’t act like you’re not on X whining about @RyanWaltersSupt
Your district has failed students. You have deplorable reading scores while you have 14 students to 1 teacher. What’s the excuse? Oh that youre busy on X bashing Ryan forgetting your job is to educate not bash the state Supt. You are part of the toxicity that is keeping us at 49th but it’s our fault right, Matt? You are under the scrutiny of every single taxpayer that can see how badly you’re failing our students. We absolutely will be asking #okleg to look at reducing superintendents across the states since yall have time during the school day to bash legislators, our governor, our superintendent and even our Lt Gov. Gravy train is over
English

Here's another ✨Supt Spotlight✨ #Macomb Supt @matthewriggs
Matt makes almost as much as @RyanWaltersSupt with only 254 students under his watch. You can catch Matt doing opinion pieces and loves to spend his time on X like 🤡@BixbyPSSupt to bash Supt Walters. Macomb’s scores are horrendous According to state test scores, 5% of students are at least proficient in math and 8% in reading. Maybe it's time Matt gets off X and focuses on students instead of whining about Republicans having closed primaries ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

English

@TulParentsVoice @RyanWaltersSupt @BixbyPSSupt Is this really what you want to be? Attacking and attempting to intimidate people who have a different opinion, or challenge a candidate you supported? You have built a platform and amassed a following. Isn’t it time to be for something?
English

@matthewriggs @RyanWaltersSupt @BixbyPSSupt No one has called you a name btw. Just calling out that you fail our students and overpaid
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell Honestly you seriously do not understand. Open primaries are no good for either party. To much dishonesty and money involved.
He got it right no open primaries period.
English

@TulParentsVoice @RyanWaltersSupt @BixbyPSSupt So just to be clear, you don’t want to engage in an exchange of ideas to improve education? You want your engagement in the process to end at posting my salary and calling me names? Invitation’s always open. Good luck in your fight for public education!
English

@matthewriggs @RyanWaltersSupt @BixbyPSSupt Nah dude, accountability is coming for every single one of you six figure supts. Y’all have allowed 49th in Education and want parents to ignore it. How long have we been in free fall? No excuses. Prioritize our students over X.
English

@ScottSm00 @LtGovPinnell I definitely see that, not indefinitely see that.
English

@ScottSm00 @LtGovPinnell Great point. Under the current system indefinitely see that. I’m tired of polarized politics. Aren’t you?
English

@TulParentsVoice @RyanWaltersSupt @BixbyPSSupt Sorry to hear that. I was looking forward to an exchange of ideas over a good meal. See if maybe we had some common ground or experiences that could help elevate education in our state? Maybe enlighten me on when free speech can be exercised? Invitation is open. Let me know.
English

@matthewriggs @RyanWaltersSupt @BixbyPSSupt No thanks Matt. It’s nothing personal. You are recognized like 🤡 Rob Miller for spending your work day on X instead of improving #OklaEd Its time we highlight yall. You’re second up for #OKSuptSpotlight that bash @RyanWaltersSupt while we are 49th in Education.
English

@onlywordsnow @LtGovPinnell Hypothetically, yes. In practice it’s cheaper and easier to stay in power when you only have to worry about a small portion.
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell Hypothetically, all these R's are doing are screwing themselves over since Independent can vote in the D primaries.
English

@parody32950 @LtGovPinnell I’m over it as well. I’m tired of politicians polling to see if they’re allowed to make the best decision for Oklahoma. With this, they’ll still poll, but they would at least have to poll a broader spectrum.
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell Tribal politics rearing their ugly head. I’m honestly sick of it. People make D or R their entire identity and refuse to criticize their own parties. I’m over it. I changed my registration to independent because I can’t stand partisan puppets anymore.
English

@steveerwin20435 @LtGovPinnell No doubt those that benefit from the current system will put up a fight. However, this is a huge step in the direction of Oklahoma values seen across the political spectrum, taking a front seat to party “values” currently driving decisions in Oklahoma.
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell Anything that threatens the current power dynamic will die
English

@ScottSm00 @LtGovPinnell A primary should be to narrow the field down to fewer candidates, not narrow the voting pool down to fewer voters. Open primaries still allow parties to select their candidate, however the candidate must have a vision for the entire electorate, not a small portion.
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell I don’t even get this argument? A primary is a for a party to chose who it wants to run for the position. Why would non party members select who a party runs for office? What purpose would this serve?
English

@boyd_bible @LtGovPinnell How would allowing more Oklahomans vote in more Oklahoma elections do anything but make Oklahoma more Oklahoma?
English

@Cabal_Educator @LtGovPinnell I was honestly disappointed to see him post this. He seemed to distance himself from the nonsense of Stitt and Walters. I’m still holding out hope his true colors aren’t the same as those two.
English

@OkieKidDoc @LtGovPinnell I still have some hope for him. What doesn’t make sense is why he would be against an open primary? The gubernatorial candidate pool running on a record of putting party before Oklahoma will be pretty crowded. This seems like a clear path to a disenfranchised group of voters.
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell @LtGovPinnell is already pandering to the far right in anticipation of announcing his 2026 gubernatorial campaign.
English

@BJMyers13735876 @LtGovPinnell Glad to hear it. I’ve yet to see an argument against open primaries that doesn’t circle back to party protection or maintaining power.
English

@matthewriggs @LtGovPinnell I'm with you Matt I believe this would give us more say in our State.
English

Why are you afraid to test your policies with every Oklahoman? If your policies are truly in the best interest of Oklahomans, wouldn’t you receive overwhelming support? Is it possible your policies don’t have everyone in mind?
Governor Kevin Stitt@GovStitt
Oklahomans made decisions at the polls that these third party groups don’t like— so now they want to upend the way we run our elections. Open primaries are a hard no in Oklahoma.
