I'm going to more actively try out BlueSky for a while. Follow me over there and reach out (so I can follow you) if I'm not already. Cheers! bsky.app/profile/mattor…

😆 'Max'? I'm not sure that word means what you think it means . . . I'm about to hit the daily limit in less than a half day of usage just _playing_ with it. 🤷‍♂️

@bradsnide That's interesting. I had the experience of watching which tool and model worked best change as I grew a codebase -- so somewhat correlated with how each tool+model got 'enough' context to guide its response.

@mattorb I knew OG Google was ‘the one’ when I started shrinking my query length and it still, almost telepathically, gave me the results I needed. Now I give LLMs less, not more to figure out which ones are Alta Vista or the next Google.

The amount of superstition and anecdotal evidence around how to craft effective context and prompts that improve LLM results when developing software is staggering. 🧵

Whether that can be applied in anyone else's configuration... well, I'm looking for a reliable source of information that is not just one or two people's story, and coming up empty.

I have been very surprised how fully featured this Obsidian spreadsheet plugin ( Univer") is. Now I have small local spreadsheets organized with notes and diagrams (Excalidraw plugin), and I really have not run in to any layout/calc I needed that it could not handle.

Playing around with [building out] this keyboard streak tracking idea some more. Added a way to reset the data, and with only a couple of data points on the chart, my improvement trend line today is impressive. 🤣

@iosconfsg Are the sessions being recorded? Will they be shared somewhere after conference?

@matt_ginty @murmur It is! Running a `git bisect` now, looks like it’s a bug in Safari only though. Is that what browser you’re using? 🤔

Before my morning coffee, I misread a news item as 'Nicolas Cage now a tropical storm after making landfall in Texas as a category 1 hurricane'. Part of me believed it.

Many engineering leaders feel they should be measuring *something*, but it doesn't make sense to measure *anything* unless you know *why* you are measuring. This is the question to start with, "What do you care most about?"

Apple Fitness+ 3 days in: Wow. This is so well polished for a v1. It reminds me of the quality of that first iPhone bringing together so many different elements. If this is v1, and Apple continues to iterate on this, it’s hard to imagine competitors being able to keep up.

🍻Cheers to science rising to a cabinet level position in the US! Considering evidence and the method you use to hone in on the truth can affect decision quality sooo much. nbcnews.com/politics/polit…

For instance can schedule a music video to trigger every day at a certain time, launch an app on the TV automatically when arriving home, turn off all the TV’s automatically after leaving the house. Fun!

#TIL all my Roku TV’s gained HomeKit and Airplay support via a software update in November. The HomeKit part is especially interesting. It lets you turn on/off and switch inputs. With an AppleTV, which can also be controlled, HomeKit automations can trigger some fun things.

The advantage of already having a device on the consumers wrist, measuring calorie burn and ‘closing rings’ seems huge for this.
