The special resolution proposed by Batley Bulldogs and Dewsbury Rams to amend the Club Grading Model relating to promotion and relegation between the Betfred Championship and Super League was narrowly defeated by 63% to 37%. With the following amendments to the grading criteria which had been proposed by IMG, the sport’s long-term strategic partners, following consulation with clubs have been approved by the RFL Board. As I’ve previously said, these changes apply to the digital, broadcast viewing, stadium and community pillars, as well as to the minimum standards supporting the grading criteria. One of the main positives for Championship and League One clubs moving forward is the ability and rewards of streaming their own games in 2025 on PPV. Already a number of Championship and League One clubs are looking at doing this for the new season, so with IMG unable to secure a broadcast deal, the clubs have been told they can stream all games and be rewarded with additional IMG points.
