Picked up trash in the park for probs a good 45min today… unplanned. Walked into a land mine of trash and once I start I can’t really stop, and I had walked into the picnic area so… there was a ton! I met some nice people tho, who assured me they would pick up after their party, and I talked to some of the kids who thanked me. Another guy on a bike also helped for a quick second too, which I appreciated. But it was like every time I turned around there was MORE wrappers and bottle caps and napkins and plastic bottles and cigarettes… someone had a babyshower, and there was a shit ton of confetti that I just could not get. Fuking annoying. But I did what I could. All I hope is that I inspired more people to pick up when possible, whether it’s yours or not.

Decision fatigue hits harrrrd

As a girl growing up in the 90s I lucked out that I had 3 brothers with obvious neurodivergence (one gifted, 2hyper) that I was tested and was diagnosed ADD back when that was still a thing, ya know, the non-hyperactive presentation. I was put on Ritalin at 8 or 9 yo, and did a neuro/biofeedback study at a research hospital at 12 to determine if I could “train away” my hyperactive brainwave (I wasn’t hyper but my brainwaves were). The answer was no difference from beginning to end of the study, but I did learn a lot of helpful techniques to focus. I quit my meds around 13 cause I hated the way I felt. Now a 42yo adult and I struggle a little with executive function, but not a much as people who were diagnosed late.

Today I had an appointment with a woman that was supposed to be my new psych doctor. I informed her of my decade old ADHD diagnosis. Her face seemed to turn sour a bit but I continued on. I told her when I was in grade school I was in the gifted program. Her face turned even more so I decided to step off the soapbox of my life’s greatest hits for a moment to let her say what her face clearly is trying to. I paused long enough for her to deem it appropriate to interject:

@solelunastro As someone with a cancer stellium (S,M,m,v) I feel like I’m on a life boat in a storm, but also like I could dive below it too if I need to… not sure how to describe it. Like it’s been rocky but I’m ok? Nothing I can’t manage, but it’s a lot.. I dunno.

Agreed. I think it’s a dick move to antagonize for clickbait views, and there’s the risk of it backfiring and causing people to want to vote to have their rights taken away… and- how do we balance the value of educating people who don’t otherwise know that there’s no expectation of privacy in public, and what freedom of the press truly encompasses… tricky times we live in.

The Auditors always feel like the flip side of the coin from Dale Gribble's tower... Both legal, both aint the best way of going about it
