@hellothisisivan I get old annuals sometimes, often inscribed by grandparents as christmas gifts back in the 1970's. Makes me slightly teary as they must be long gone by now, also they often have the same handwriting as my old gran and shes been gone 30 years.

@NoContextCounty Murray Goodwin hitting a 4 down to long leg to give Sussex their first ever Championship. Champagne in the stands and for the batters. SBTS over the speakers and I remembered my dad, who'd have loved it

@TouchlineX That's not true. If it was "Only six teams have played in every PL season and not been relegated", it would be. But that's not what was said. As it was written, Brighton and Brentford have never been relegated.

@PictureSporting It's not lost though, it's still there, just not used for county cricket. Now, Hastings, there's a Sussex ground that's really been lost

Another lost outground ... the Manor Ground in Worthing hosted 43 first-class matches, with Sussex holding a week there between 1935 and 1964 However, in 1964 the wicket was poor with only one innings in the two Championship games passing 200 and Sussex being bowled out for 23 by Warwickshire. A few weeks later Sussex announced matches scheduled there for 1965 had been moved to Hove because the pitch was "not of a first-class standard" and they have not returned

@lining_laura @joey_hann @its_The_Dr Rugby refs do. I fully expect that every time I carry out a nail check before a women/girls match there will be someone whose nails need clipping. If I'm reffing a female game, I'll always carry some, most refs I know do

@joey_hann @its_The_Dr But why carry nail clippers around on your keys? Cutting nails is something you do as part of your personal hygiene in bathroom etc .I certainly wouldn’t enjoy somebody sitting in my office or over dinner cutting nails.

@WG_RumblePants It's a lovely ground to play on, but given its location, there is always a decent crowd watching you - it's not the place to drop a goober.

@ChrisJG06 @WG_RumblePants If Stokes has had enough, I'd pick Simpson as a stopgap captain, until Brooks is up for it ( don't think he's ready yet). Simpson won't go on for years but he's transformed Sussex and would be just the person to pull England together.

@WG_RumblePants Simpson a fine keeper and in great form with the bat over the past two seasons but maybe slightly too old now, which is a shame

Just received my latest copy of County Cricket Matters - a great read, as always. Thank you @AnnieChave. Perhaps the travails of England in Australia should remind us of the importance of red ball cricket.

Remember them? These handy books used to come out just before a major series, and used to feature "Tit-Bits about play and players" and featured, "batting & bowling averages, fixtures, etc."This one was published just before the 1899 Ashes. Of course, WG Grace is front and centre

@MattOakleyMojo It really bugged me that they didn't give us the answer to that question. I'd have said 14, but it could have been 15 (if you count Hamlet's dad). But someone on another group said it should be people who died on-stage, in which it's 9. It was a terrible question to ask

“I’m off to check how many people died in Hamlet" sounds like something Jim Royle would say as he exited the living room with a newspaper under his arm. #CelebrityTraitors

Here's a paradox, as the world gets more and more connected, it's getting harder to contact people. Companies make it ever harder for customers to get in touch but @Aegon take it to the limit - no email address, no phone number. You have to do better than that

@ZoharAtkins @gregorykennedy It's a great quote but it was from Shelley's In Defence of Poetry, not by Keats. It will be good to see more companies acknowledge the worth of content providers

I know that England's performance has been a bit of a horror show, but, Virgin Media, should a test match really require a parental pin to watch because the programme started after 9 o'clock?

@OfficialBHAFC, your Rainbow Laces survey is an object lesson in how not to do research. If you ask a question where 'none of the above' is an option then you're asking respondents to lie:what's the point of that? Your demographic options are poor (& learn to spell 'separate')

Poor old series 1 #Blackadder often gets a battering on here. I started this page because of my admiration for that series. It’s clear many fans hate it, some tolerate it and those with good taste love it. I say it’s a masterpiece. Fans, send me some love for S1.
