@pontificatormax Amazingly, the man that Pope Francis elevated to cardinal and then installed in nearly every disastery in the Curia, went on to continue Francis’s legacy.

NEW: When Jeffrey Epstein and Steve Bannon moved to take down Pope Francis, they assembled a network: an arch-conservative cardinal, an excommunicated archbishop, a priest defrocked after fathering a child, and a Latvian crypto-bro. They were no match for the former Buenos Aires nightclub bouncer who became pope. thelettersfromleo.com/p/jeffrey-epst…

“We must restore hope to young people, help the old, be open to the future, spread love. Be poor among the poor. We need to include the excluded and preach peace.” — Pope Francis

@MassimoFaggioli But just remember: this only applies to white western countries. All other countries will get to keep their culture and national identity.

reminder: in 2024, the conference of Catholic bishops in Germany unanimously approved and published a declaration stating that “racial nationalism” and Christianity are incompatible.

@AbpPanini There’s this idea that breaking tradition (like Pope Francis did countless times), is a great act of humility. Actually, breaking thousands of years of tradition is a great act of hubris. That you know better than the ostentatious rubes who came before you.

Would like to point out Tim's last Sunday Mass and Ron's first Sunday Mass at St. Pats. The setup says all you need to know...

@ChristopherHale What evidence is there that republicans are defying catholic teaching more then democrats? Catholic teaching isn’t a priority for either party. So you got half of the equation right. And conveniently left out the other half.

@poperespecter1 There’s only one difference. The pope visits Protestant churches while on papal trips. But the pope would never visit the Immaculata.

Breaking : Traditional Catholic Order, FSSP, issues statement comparing the SSPX to Protestantism in light of their recent decision to ignore papal authority.
Al Carbo@carbo_al

The FSSP releases a shockingly scathing statement on the SSPX, written by Fr. Martin Ramm Here are some highlight quotes "We wish to apply this petition... That God may lead all who erred back to unity of the Church - to the separated brethren (Vatican term for non-Catholic Churches) of the SSPX" "A schism is not overcome by denying it.... The SSPX emphasizes that it recognizes the Pope because it prays for him. However, this recognition remains purely verbal. Praying for someone does not... actually acknowledge their authority. While the papacy is recognized “in itself,” the specific Pope has no binding authority over the actual actions of the Society." "Besides the explicitly advocated dogmatic sedevacantism, there is a subtle practical sedevacantism. Acting... as if the Pope did not exist. This... is clearly recognizable in the SSPX. When they speak of “fidelity to Rome,” they mean an abstract “Eternal Rome,” not the concrete, present Church... They consciously distance themselves from what they pejoratively call the “institutional Church.” In this way, the Society effectively sets itself as the standard for ecclesiolatry." "Despite all the differences from Protestant churches, striking structural parallels cannot be overlooked."

Honestly, pretty good halftime show. Bad Bunny did very well! (And no, there was no "dress" or any other nonsense people were worried about). And, yes, as a quick reminder: Bad Bunny is American!!!

@RichRaho These moves by Francis and Leo are seen as “humble.” But bucking generations of tradition is an act of hubris.

@nickycantaloupe Generational hate makes no sense. There are hardcore MAGA boomers and hardcore leftist boomers. Some are rich, some are poor. Some babysit their grandkids, some don’t.

Right wing Christianity tried to teach me morality=sex stuff, making hell seem absurd. Why eternal damnation for that? But morality as killing in the streets, kidnapping children, brutalizing the imprisoned, exploiting the poor, and lies to justify it all, hell makes more sense.

@RichRaho No, it was about deporting all illegal immigrants. Trump was pretty direct about that.

Went to Mass today to pray for the conversion of violent ICE agents engaging in unjust and dehumanizing behavior. Came out of Mass to discover that ICE had executed another citizen. How anyone can claim to be Christian and support this is utterly beyond me.

“The one thing you could always say about a free society is that the cops do not have a right to break down your doors, grab you and detain you in the middle of the night, on mere suspicions of illegality. You could feel safe here. That simply isn’t true about America anymore. You also knew you could express any opinion here and be safe from government persecution. Also no longer true — as foreign students have been seized, detained, and deported solely for things they have written or said. In Trump’s America, you are not safe in your home and you have to watch what you say. The two core guarantees of freedom are no longer fully operable here.” - Andrew Sullivan.
