Sir Charles Mackerras was born 100 years ago today. Quite simply he was the greatest musician I ever worked with, and his ideas of making music influenced every note I sing, and singer I teach. This photo is from Vixen rehearsals at @rbo_org in 2010, just weeks before he died.

Charles Mackerras The Greatest conductor who ever lived (imho), everything he touches is magical. Believing one can make music without being self indulgent and therefore exciting..surely that’s the key to it all.. Just listen to his Beethoven. Perfection for me..
