@aaminahinfilm The Stranger is ravishing, especially if you can still find it in a cinema! Wish people were talking about it more tbh boxd.it/dWbCt9

@ChrisG_TSU Having seen it for the first time this week (in the cinema) A.I. is the film we all need right now. Nationwide re-release would have been lovely

I know these are all Universal films, but It would be nice if Odeon mixed it up a bit, and screened A.I for the 25th anniversary, as well as something like Hook
ODEON@ODEONCinemas

Immerse yourself in the genius of Steven Spielberg at ODEON 🍿 Whether you're heading to a dinosaur theme park, befriending an alien or diving into a beach thriller, experience Spielberg classics on the big screen from just £5! 🎟️: bit.ly/4rXilhd

Ad Astra remains the best (and most overlooked) space movie of the century. the vast expanse of space reflected within the depth of the human psyche. feels like a world worth saving. dazzling, but never ostentatious. optimistic, but schmaltz-free; never mistaken for "hopecore".

Realise I haven't been posting about my time at Manchester Film Fest yet, so here's yesterday's round-up: my two favourites so far, both on the same day open.substack.com/pub/celluloidr…

@AdequateEmily I wrote my undergrad dissertation on almost exactly this subject! Seen together with Amour, it's a career-spanning culmination (not a retread) - and Rogowski rules so hard

One day I’ll make a video on how Happy End is a brilliant film where Haneke purposefully satirizes plotlines from his own career in a darkly comic fashion, and most just didn’t get it because they tried to watch it like it was Benny’s Video, but for now…it’s underrated.

Saw someone say there’s a karaoke scene in Project Hail Mary and by law, after hearing the topic I must post my own favorite karaoke scene in film history.

@inoelshikari @vuecinemas And for £18 you can get a whole month of films at HOME. Surely (beyond the IMAX) this will just drive people elsewhere?

The @vuecinemas in the Printworks have raised the prices of the seats again! £17.99 for something they are calling Ultra Lux? They are the same seats that used to cost £12.99! What’s the reason for a £5 increase. It’s disgusting.

Any film which features a Christmas party as a significant plot point is a Christmas film. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy? Christmas film. Goodfellas? Christmas film. LA Confidential? CHRISTMAS FILM.

had high hopes for Wake Up Dead Man, and they were exceeded. I feel insanely biased, though, as a lapsed Catholic who loves impeccably crafted locked-room mysteries & murder at the vicarage. imho the funniest, most poignant, and maybe prettiest Benoit Blanc entry yet @rianjohnson
