U wanna know what’s crazy about this? Aang needed the avatar state to get out of that blood bending, korra did it with JUST pure willpower and physical strength against the most powerful blood bender in both verse

Do you even know what “breaking out” means? Mako did not break out of Amon’s bloodbending. What actually happened; Amon had Mako fully restrained with bloodbending. Mako couldn’t move his body freely at all. The only thing he managed to do was slightly move his fingers to generate lightning. He then shot lightning at Amon, which disrupted him. That’s not “breaking out” that’s more like barely resisting just enough to attack. Breaking out = like Korra did later, overpowering the control entirely. Mako’s case = he was still under control, just forced out a last-second move. Mako showed insane will power and precision, he didn’t overpower Amon’s blood bending.

First, the “she’s from the Water Tribe so she shouldn’t need Avatar State” point is weak. Korra being from the Water Tribe does not give immunity to bloodbending. Bloodbending works on anyone with water (blood) in their body, regardless of nationality. Even top-tier waterbenders like Katara were affected by it before learning to resist. So saying “if she needed Avatar State she’s useless” doesn’t even make sense, that’s not how the ability works. Aang was fully helpless until Avatar State kicked in, Korra was literally fighting through Amon’s control without it, in base form btw And Amon is stronger than Yakone too…

I watched Season 3 and the finale while it was all being broadcast live. We had waited so long for this and the payoff was mad! I remember this scene so much like yesterday. I remember screaming until I lost my voice when Aang emerged from the rubble with glowing eyes. I remember screaming in front of my screen “Get him Aang, GET HIM!” don’t let him go! All the while watching Aang unleash the full power of the Avatar State and got the most powerful villain in the universe running for dear life. It’s really hard to find anything that can beat the goosebumps ATLA brings. No wonder it has the best rewatch value of any animated series on the planet.
