@wagmiRacing @Spotonparts @WackyStables @iamFcarril @kkirk55 With a level up model the number of beasts in each class is only going up. I can't see 48 hours being enough to hold that maxed out "wall" of horses from dominating each class and then just competing against each other if they only have to rest for 2 days
English

@mb_stables @Spotonparts @WackyStables @iamFcarril @kkirk55 I could see a world where less extreme aging than what I proposed makes even more sense. But felt like my numbers were pretty reasonable all things considered.
English

Hey @iamFcarril I've stayed pretty publicly silent on all the changes so far, but I have one question for you: Why was there a need to make racing and breeding changes simultaneously, instead of first fixing racing with existing (or similar) breeding? Then follow the data...
English

@wagmiRacing @Spotonparts @WackyStables @iamFcarril @kkirk55 In my eyes it's probably somewhere in the middle. The ultimate goal is no matter if you join the game now or in 3 years you should have the same opportunity to have fun and not get crushed. That'll keep players coming into the game and investing in the game for it to thrive
English

@wagmiRacing @Spotonparts @WackyStables @iamFcarril @kkirk55 I think a potential compromise would be if aging kicked in stronger when a horse hit their max level. I'm less concerned about RSB or Artois than I am about the potential for hundreds of nearly identical horses maxed in every class swapping wins at -ROI and bleeding out the fun
English

@mb_stables @Spotonparts @WackyStables @iamFcarril @kkirk55 The purpose is to reduce the frequency of older horses on the track, not remove them from racing completely. Depending how high you go on age I could see 10000 races being 1 week or something.
English

@wagmiRacing @Spotonparts @WackyStables @iamFcarril @kkirk55 Why is days the right order of magnitude not weeks? It seems to me aging wouldn't have much of an effect on field difficulty especially in lower classes unless it was on the scale of a week at least. Eventually there will be hundreds of horses maxed in these classes.
English

@Spotonparts @WackyStables @iamFcarril @kkirk55 Something like every 1000 races is another 12 hours.
0-1000 (12 hours)
1000-2000 (24 hours)
2000-3000 (36 hours)
3000+ (48 hours)
Values can be tweaked later if necessary, but days is the right order of magnitude, not weeks.
English

@Spotonparts @iamFcarril @SN_Stables @Dookie_Kong @EcsZed @kkirk55 It may not be RSB that we're chasing but instead the horse who has the highest DP and VAR possible for whatever class they're in. Now what happens if there are 100 horses just like that in each class? Hopefully aging stops that or breeding makes that far too difficult
English

@iamFcarril @mb_stables @SN_Stables @Dookie_Kong @EcsZed @kkirk55 we are just so trained that we need to beat Ready Set Boom and its just not the case anymore
English

@iamFcarril @SN_Stables @Dookie_Kong @EcsZed @kkirk55 It's the chase for that unbelievable talent that I find exciting about horse racing and I imagine many find exciting about this game. If the end of the road is a pool of similar maxed out beasts then I worry will that dream die?
English

@iamFcarril @SN_Stables @Dookie_Kong @EcsZed @kkirk55 I absolutely love aging for this reason as long as it prevents the situation I'm worried about! I'm just worried that we'll eventually be in a perpetual state of the "best" horses at the top of each level racing against similar peers in the format their BA/VAR/DP is best for
English

@IntenseStables Also it's already clear that unless you have an elite VAR horse (probably from 1.0) or maybe a superbreed VAR horse (remains to be seen) you will have no edge when you hit the top of your class. With rake 99% of horses will end up parked even at the top of their potential
English

@_BRUNETTl @NextGen_Jacob If anything I think locking good breeding results to only come from two genesis puts WAY more control in the people who got into this game early. Breeding 2.0 gave everyone the opportunity to breed horses up in ability regardless of breed type
English

@mb_stables @NextGen_Jacob Do you think everyone who controls the top horses should stay at the the top because they got lucky and were here before others?
English

Please, someone, explain this horse to me.
Both parents are utterly garbage bute gens.
Is this a glitch horse that wasn't addressed because it landed in C2 as opposed to C1?
English

@_BRUNETTl @NextGen_Jacob I find it hard to see this as a "lotto". Seems they made a call that breed type should matter more and way over-did it. Now relatively poor gens produce much better horses than top 0.1% talent horses who aren't genesis. People want good horses to breed good horses
English

@NextGen_Jacob Are we complaining about a lotto aspect of the game now? I seriously am trying to understand what people want from breeding 🤣
English

@wagmiRacing Bred on 11/9 so it was part of the horses that got their breed type upgraded with the racing update because its starting level is >500
English

@bg_alt And just to add a bit to this, this comment from Facundo in the ZED general discord really backs up this idea that VAR may have been completely ignored. Perhaps unintentionally? If they really did just use average speed it would not matter what level of VAR a horse has.

English

@bg_alt Looking through data on ZSim it seems like they essentially used some version of the horse's average speed at their best distance which explains why all the highest base ratings are marathoners. If anything, outliers came from high DP horses (like The Crimson Chin) not VAR at all
English

@ShadyLaneZedge @bg_alt If they were using anything other than mean speed I would not expect a horse like 9 Lives to have essentially the same starting class as an average 1.0 C3 mid with low var like my horse Morning Special. Even 0.5 SD would catapult a horse like 9 Lives into a much higher base level
English

@bg_alt I’m not sure I follow the “out of 100%” here but DP is weighted almost fully in this. Has to be to see the 50+ higher level scores on the marathon side. Looks like “internal” mean speed at 1000 or 2600 with mayyyyybe .5 SD of VAR. Which would be 69th percentile speed:)
