Why is the Country operating without an IEBC? this is both a political and a constitutional crisis. There are constituencies and Wards that have gone for months without elected representatives. Article 89 (2) of the Constitution on Delimitation of electoral units, review should be done periodically in a period not less than 8 years and not more than 12 years. Already we are past the 12 year period, this a mess. If anything any review shall be completed at least twelve months before a general election of members of Parliament. Why is everyone silent on this issue? Who is supposed to select the IEBC Commissioners? What happened to the NADCO report on this issue? What are the Courts interpretion on this issue? Is this a legal or a polical problem?

A few days ago, my current political mentor told me something profound. He said, “Pauline, as you embark on this journey, there will be people who support you and love you unconditionally. Even when you make mistakes, they will extend grace. But there will also be those who will never like or love you, no matter what you do. In their eyes, you can never be right.” Today, I want to speak about the second group. For a long time, they dismissed me as a “keyboard warrior,” insisting I would never step onto the ground. When I did step onto the ground, the narrative changed. Suddenly, every minor mistake becomes a major narrative. They say I cannot speak. They say I should retreat back to social media. In Kitengela, where the state destroyed the sound system, making it difficult to address the people with an almost dysfunctional sound system, these people have clipped a moment and turned it into a tool for mockery. But here is my message to them: History reminds us of great leaders who has way worse oratory shortcomings, but achieved way more than most of us will in a lifetime. Even Moses in the Bible was one such. If eloquence alone were the measure of leadership, our country would be doing way better than it is under the current leadership. This journey is bigger than clips, critics, or commentary. The horse has already bolted, and there is no going back. I will learn what I need to learn, and grow where I need to grow. But I will not shrink myself to fit into the box where some are trying to force me into. Tupatane ground!
