🚨 Excited to spotlight the next generation of firearm researchers at the #2024FirearmResearchConf! A key goal of the Research Society for the Prevention of Firearm-Related Harms is to nurture emerging scholars shaping this field. 🎓First up, Brielle Savage (@_briellek), a PhD student with @RutgersU Newark and @NJGVRC. Research Interests: Firearm-Related Homicide Survivorship, Firearm Violence, Juvenile Delinquency, Illicit Firearm Carrying Why research firearms? I My lived experience both professionally and personally, give me a unique perspective on the impact of firearm violence. I chose to pursue this avenue of research because I have witnessed the immediate and lasting effects firearm violence has on individuals and entire communities. I’ve seen how communities are left to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of violence; as well as the barriers and challenges that individuals are presented with in the aftermath of violence. My hope is that my research will help inform policies that address the root causes of firearm violence, leading to programs and funding that support healing and foster a culture of health and equity, particularly in marginalized communities most affected by firearm violence. @sonalirajan @dsemenzcrim @PsychBrownBag
