A truly sad day for the family, friends, community of Ardboe, and all of Tyrone, following the passing of Frank McGuigan. Widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers ever to wear the Tyrone jersey, Frank’s extraordinary talent, sporting achievements and deep connection to his community ensured he was admired far beyond the playing field. His loss will be felt by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, former teammates and all who knew and loved him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Honoured to be to travelling to Westminster next Wednesday with Martina Flanagan and her daughter Sarah for the @lobularmoonshot vigil. Lobular breast cancer is the second most common form of breast cancer, with 22 women diagnosed every day. I will be joining Martina to help raise awareness, show support, and call on the British government to provide the funding needed to research and develop targeted treatments. It was lovely to meet Martina and Lorraine recently in Ballygawley- two wonderful ladies who, despite their own diagnosis of lobular breast cancer, are working so hard on behalf of others. It will also be incredibly special to see Martina’s daughter present a letter she has written at Westminster on behalf of all those affected. #lobularbreastcancer

Happy Mother’s Day 💐 Today I’m thinking of my own mother who I was absolutely blessed to have in my life. The greatest gift she gave to me, my five sisters and our brother was the importance of family. She taught us to work hard and stay true to ourselves. Today is about celebrating all the amazing mums who give so much every day. But it can also be a hard day for many. I’m thinking of mothers grieving the loss of a child, and of women who long to become mums. To every mum, and to all those who care for and support others like a mother would - thank you for the love, strength and encouragement you give every day.

I welcome the appointment of an endometriosis clinical nurse specialist in the Western Trust. This is an important step to develop and shape endometriosis services in the Trust. This appointment coincides with Endometriosis Awareness Month I wish Kate all the best in this role.

Delighted to attend the South West College campus in Omagh this afternoon along with my colleague Declan McAleer MLA to hear about the continued growth and success across all three sites in Enniskillen, Dungannon and Omagh. The extensive range of education, training, skills and career pathways on offer, and the strong focus on inclusivity, are a credit to everyone involved. All three campuses provide students with opportunities to develop skills, gain qualifications and build bright futures in their chosen careers. A really inspirational afternoon, finishing off with a look around some of the fantastic facilities on site.

🎶💚 Fantastic news as Belfast has successfully secured Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 2027! The Fleadh will be hosted in Belfast this summer and return in 2027, bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world to celebrate the very best of Irish music, culture, and heritage. This will also a great boost for our local economy. Béal Feirste will be buzzing, and we can’t wait to welcome you all!
