Paying $13M for the repairs necessary to keep the Ontario Science Centre open through to 2034 would have been the equivalent of reducing the $200 pre-election handout cheques to $199.19.

The only effective way to reduce traffic congestion in a rapidly densifying region is to invest in more transit, particularly regional transit. High-speed regional rail is essential, as our city streets are already clogged with cars, leaving no room for further expansion. Building more highways or tunnels only serves as a to create a funnel, concentrating traffic and creating gridlock at the destination. This is precisely the problem Toronto faces today: more cars lead to persistent gridlock. To alleviate traffic, we must prioritize efficient, high-capacity transit options, not highways, not tunnels.

If you live in a hot rental unit, you can now call @311Toronto to report excessive heat in your unit. If enough people call, we could be on our way to getting a maximum temperature bylaw that would limit indoor temperatures across Toronto.

This week, @TorontoStar released the results of a poll commissioned by @fordnation & his gov't — confirming the public is behind us. More than half the province backs @LCBO workers on strike: workers have made their fight front & centre in the minds & hearts of Ontarians. #OnPoli

This is much needed. Right now, the TTC has a fine of $425 for non payment. In comparison, speeding 40km/h over the limit, which literally threatens lives, comes with a fine of just $280.

#TTC Chair @JamaalMyersTO's motion passes - TTC staff will report back on developing a new system for fare enforcement that includes options to pay your fare first, a warning system, and starting with lower fines.

The proposed property tax increase in Toronto: $35 more per month. Average Toronto rent for one-bedroom is $2600. The province allows for a default 2.5% increase in rent this year, which is $65 more per month. 50% of Torontonians are renters.

A reminder that @marksaunders_TO was paid $700 a day for a maximum of 245 days, or $171,500 a year, to produce absolutely nothing. The entire MO of @fordnation is to clean out the public purse to line the pockets of friends and insiders — this is definitive corruption.

The Conservative Party just passed this policy at their convention in Quebec City today. If enacted under a CPC government, it would ban trans women from women’s bathrooms, shelters, etc. This is the CPC, as a party, voicing its opposition to 2SLGBTQ+ rights. This is terrifying.

For each $1 stolen in shoplifting, there's at least $5 in wage theft and $100 in tax evasion. Have you ever heard about a wage theft or tax evasion "crime wave"? What do you think this tells you about how reporters determine what is "news" and what is ignored, and who benefits?
