@Andrew_Forrest1 @AllDayUNC I do like to look at pre-conference tourney ratings though. Especially using DSR (my new favorite tool cause I prefer usable metrics which RPI isn’t). VCU was 112th in Mondays update. Would put VCU middle of the pack 4-seed wise for the season compared to what RPI says today.

With that said if you flip UNC and Auburn you probably get almost identical regional matchups either way. If it was a question of 8/9 then I’d get it more. But, 4/5 maybe not as much.

I’m aware. And that’s my whole point. When the metrics are so close, look at the actual games played. UNC was 24-11 in quad 1/quad 2 games compared to 27-19 for Auburn.
Auburn played 34 total quad 1 games (went 17-17). That’s a ton, but UNC went 15-4 in quad 1 games. When things are this close, I’m giving the team with an almost 79% winning percentage in quad 1 games the edge.

I’ve seen teams lose by 10+ runs in Game 1 of a regional/super regional and then come back and win said regional. The ACCT format gives you no chance at that. Conf tourneys mean much less than folks want.

I've seen State make it to the title game and not make the field, so ACCT is useless.

RPI of 40th before this past week, none of the 8 bubble teams had a winning Q1 record (not many in the entire tournament), played the toughest ACC schedule (one of the toughest conf schedules in baseball), and was top-36 in KPI/DSR.

1. Elliot Avent had a phenomenal career and has done leaps and bounds for NC State.
2. Chris Hart, lead recruiter and 11-year AHC, I'd bet a lot of money on being the HC.

@MattAblesBurner @UNCballTalk Expected data points can be wonky, and bad analytically. Do you know if he’s talking Points per Shot over expected, Points per Possession over expected, is it pre-game metric expectations based on lineups and projected play, etc. Plenty of analytics to find.
