Putting your kids' names on the Stanley Cup teaches them that recognition doesn't have to be earned. That's entitlement.

Another pencil neck no muscle mass “journalist” chimes in on a sport he doesn’t even cover as part of his “profession”. I love how people who have zero investment in hockey or the Canes are suddenly dog piling on this for whatever disingenuous, selfish morality policing reasons they came up with. Stay in your lane. We can care less about your opinion.
Lance Lysowski@LLysowski

Joel Nystrom, who played 38 games for the Hurricanes, is not engraved on the Cup, but the owner put the names of his five children. Other support staff are also deserving. Tacky. And not at all surprising.

@ByMHarrington I agree with you, this is a disgrace. What's next, the commish handing the Cup to the owner on the ice instead of the winning captain, just like the other major sports?

This is a disgrace. The Hurricanes’ owner has put the names of his wife and kids on the Stanley Cup, above all the team officials, coaches and players. Rich people doing whatever they want is a massive problem in this society. How could the NHL let this happen?

@ByMHarrington Having your name engraved on the Stanley Cup is supposed to mean you contributed to winning it; not that you have the same last name as the owner.

The most ridiculous take on the Carolina situation is “he’s the owner and he can do whatever he wants.” No, he can’t. He has a franchise in a league. There are rules. I don’t need to say where I’m sure this take is coming from but we all know. Stop it.

Thoughts on Tom Dunden, Carolina Hurricanes owner, having his entire family engraved on the cup while leaving off important PR people and a long time equipment trainer? Should NHL step in? He isn’t the first owner to do this.

@Carolina_2463 IMO, getting a name engraved on the Stanley Cup should be reserved for those who DIRECTLY contributed to winning it. Players, coaches, GM, plus training and equipment staff. Things like this - rich people doing rich people things - is stolen valor

Rank the four packages in order you would want for Robert Thomas if he were to get traded #stlblues Utah: Desynoyers, But, Lamoureux, 19th Buffalo: Helenius, Mrtka, Quinn, 27th Anaheim: Mctavish, McQueen, Mintyukov, 2027 first Montreal: Hage, Reignbacher, Kapanen, 29th

If Appert returns, and it seems likely he is, how do we guarantee the Sabres power play improves?

Wouldn't say it was the biggest steal of all time, but the Canadiens getting Nick Suzuki for 30-year-old Max Pacioretty has to at least be near the top of the list.

@ByMHarrington I think HNIC and the Habs have a lot of pull. With the Celtics at 1PM, I bet we get the Sabres at 4PM and then the Habs at 7:30.

The Celtics are playing at 1. That trends to Sabres being at night. And HNIC doesn't get that kind of priority. US TV is going to mostly rule.
Mike McGrath 🇨🇦@mcgmedia

@ByMHarrington My guess is HNIC wants the Habs game in the evening, forcing the Sabres/Bruins to the afternoon

@PeteKadar That doesn't seem right. Last night, the Sabres had Kesselring, Schenn, Metsa, Pearson, etc as healthy scratches

@MitchyGallo Why is Dahlin so unwillinging in such an emotionally charged game. I’m conflicted because it’s a fine line between stoicism and lack of situational awareness. Taking a beating to goad somebody into a penalty only works for so long before your body breaks down.

Re Colton Parayko: Can’t blame him. He’s already won a cup. He’s a Western Canada boy, who’s earned his right to dictate his future and destination. Sucks because he’s exactly what they need. Sabres maybe shouldn’t have slept on Mackenzie Weegar.
