I used to wake up in the morning often on two hours sleep and feel physically sick about my gambling losses. I would be up all night betting on horses in Australia and the US until I could no longer stay awake, when I did wake up my stomach would churn and the dread of the previous night’s events would hit me like a wave tearing through my body. North Lanarkshire Council spent £122,000 on a half marathon with just 782 runners.
Entry fees brought in £26'000, meaning taxpayers covered £96,000.
That’s roughly £155 per participant, most of it on road closures, signage, and admin.
At a time when basic services are being cut.
Why are they wasting our money?
