Just spoke with TDOT. The State is sending 35 additional trucks to Montgomery County to help clear our roads.

MoCo Government offices will be closed on Thursday, January 29, due to winter weather and hazardous conditions. Our crews have worked tirelessly to clear parking lots and sidewalks; however, remaining ice and unsafe conditions require facilities to remain closed to the public.

Government offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 28, due to winter weather and hazardous driving conditions. Residents are strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel during this period.

All Bi-County operations are closed today, Monday, January 26. Our crews are on-site working hard to clear snow and ice. We will assess conditions throughout the day and post an update regarding Tuesday’s schedule as soon as possible.

Stay Home: Keep roads clear for EMS/crews. 🧥 Dress Warm: Watch for frostbite & hypothermia. 🔥 Heat Safe: Vent generators outside; check CO detectors. 💡 Medical: Have a backup plan for oxygen/ventilators. 🚑 911: Only call for accidents with confirmed injuries. Stay safe! ❄️🏥

What’s the difference: Sleet vs. Freezing Rain ❄️ • Sleet: Refreezes before hitting the ground → ice pellets • Freezing rain: Freezes on contact → dangerous glaze of ice Bottom line: Sleet bounces. Freezing rain coats everything in ice. ⚠️
