Data supports the current narrative about EliGE. Fantastically gifted player, but more error-prone than usual this year. Trying to do too much to keep the sinking ship afloat.

I packaged up the "autoresearch" project into a new self-contained minimal repo if people would like to play over the weekend. It's basically nanochat LLM training core stripped down to a single-GPU, one file version of ~630 lines of code, then: - the human iterates on the prompt (.md) - the AI agent iterates on the training code (.py) The goal is to engineer your agents to make the fastest research progress indefinitely and without any of your own involvement. In the image, every dot is a complete LLM training run that lasts exactly 5 minutes. The agent works in an autonomous loop on a git feature branch and accumulates git commits to the training script as it finds better settings (of lower validation loss by the end) of the neural network architecture, the optimizer, all the hyperparameters, etc. You can imagine comparing the research progress of different prompts, different agents, etc. github.com/karpathy/autor… Part code, part sci-fi, and a pinch of psychosis :)

Current Tier-2 10k LAN landscape is oversaturated. We need higher prizepools, not more events. TOs - you need to find a way to top up prizes budget. Otherwise you won’t get even covered by hltv soon due to poor quality of participants.

The contract with 9INE is coming to an end and this adventure will not continue. I'm really happy for this experience, it was short but extremely valuable. Almost making the Major with 0.1% chance was insane! Free agent from December 15th and I'm ready for the next chapter!
9INE Pusulabet@9INEGG

We would like to inform you that faven is being transitioned to the bench, and MoDo’s short-term contract has concluded through a mutual agreement in which both parties agreed not to continue. We sincerely thank both players for their commitment, positive energy, and determination throughout every challenge and achievement. Thank you for everything! #9INENATION

Its a giant competitive issue though. Blast Bounty invites will be missed due to this missing coverage or rather.. gained from the crazy coverage of GIBAWAY and DraculaN. You can argue both ways, but its wildly inconsistent.. you cant argue that. Many of OG, Ecstatic, 9INE, HOTU, etc will now miss getting a Blast Bounty invite and some of them because they prioritised this bigger LAN over the smaller GIVEAWAY LAN which turned out to be a golden VRS lottery ticket for those who signed up for that one. Its so inconsistent. What HLTV can be blamed for in my opinion is not being transparent in any way about what kind of coverage events will get. They must have some internal rules/guidelines for coverage and when teams are "forced" by VRS to make these investments in LAN participation it is not unfair to ask for some guidelines on what coverage events will get. Right now its just a lottery from event to event. Its not ok if it really is this random whether groups are covered or not. Its such a huge factor for trying to navigate whether its worth signing up for or not. Some consistency is needed! If the rule is that 32 team events will not get coverage while 24 team events will, then let it be publicly known so teams can navigate what events to prioritise. Just some thoughts because I completely understand the frustration of the teams too while also understanding HLTV is also in a tough spot... Once again its Valve to blame really, they are so uninvested in fixing the ecosystem. All it would take is probably one dedicated employee who connected with the scene and evaluated quickly on the learnings and updated the rules along the way.. its so frustrating 😔

What a wild ride by the boys. From Top 56 in August to Top 24 today. We've put ourselves in a really good position going forward, but man it's so rough to miss the major by just a couple of rounds, especially since we missed invite to the last RMR by a couple of ranking points.
