What Linux distro is cool these days? I'm trying to avoid vanilla Ubuntu, because it's a bit - vanilla

@ollieread @DevenJahnke @JustSteveKing I appreciate your insights into Multi Tenancy @ollieread, have done for years. I need to look into it very soon for a production application, but I look at tried and tested solutions. Stancl being one as it is updated and maintained. Do you ever plan on finishing your package?

@DevenJahnke @JustSteveKing While this package does its job well, if you want to do it “the right way”, don’t use it, it does some mad runtime config hotswapping of the current default database rather than using the actual feature that lets you use a different one.

I want to add database multi-tenancy to a new Laravel application (Laravel 11). What's the best way to do this? I don't want easy, I want the right way so I don't have to revisit it later. Any resources would be epic! Also, Supabase for Laravel. Yay or nay?

Hey @Ticketmaster - I don’t care for Taylor swift tickets, but I did care for blink-182. What is going on with your queueing system? As the comments I’ve seen sound like it’s not reliable at all. Scalpers getting tickets and real fans missing out on already high ticket prices.

Insanely excited about @laravelphp v10.x. As Taylor just announced, we will: ✅ Use native types around methods arguments and return types. 🧹 Remove superfluous PHP annotations. 🔧 Add generic annotations for auto-completion or static analysis value.

I've got a max spec i9 16" MacBook pro; I bought it when the m1s was released. It started having issues, so I did a complete wipe, and now PHPStorm, Docker, Firefox, Chrome and just about everything crashes repeatedly, and I keep getting volume mismatch errors.

@ollieread Ideally want to avoid reinstalling the OS. I did watch a video by Louis Rossman explains that the most common failure on a early MBP 16 is the motherboard sending 13v to the SSD and frying it. They need to bring out an M2 16 inch already…

@ollieread Currently having issues with mine too recently, sometimes freezes and turns off, debug report pointing to a recoverable panic on the Storage/Nvme controller.

@cassiecodes I can so relate to this, part of me just wants to take up carpentry which is what my grandfather did. In these times though I cannot justify the loss in income which sucks, I also feel this is a reason why skilled professions like this are in decline

Nothing's made me want to gently close my laptop, leave the digital world behind and learn carpentry more than the recent AI art explosion. There's too much content folks. We've done it. The internet's full. Finished. Completed. It's too noisy now and there's too much of it.

@alexjgarrett I’m a tap() kinda guy, yeah first is better if someone doesn’t know what the function does. However it’s at that point they should go figure out what it does and see why it has been used which most dev’s should be capable of doing so or if not, should learn to do so

@ollieread @PHPGuus @GTCrais @LiamHammett @ryangjchandler @alexjgarrett This is my go to, can’t beat a good static make method to get past the need of wrapping in parenthesis. Personally I wouldn’t use ‘new’ as the method name but I guess that’s just personal preference
