Colorized photograph of Robert E. Lee at the back porch of his home, 1865... Lee had served as the commanding general of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, surrendering to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House surrender, effectively ending major Confederate resistance. The home shown is part of the Arlington estate in Virginia, which had been seized by Union forces during the war and later became the site of Arlington National Cemetery. Following the war, Lee did not return to live there. Instead, he became president of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia, focusing on education and reconciliation during Reconstruction. This image is a modern colorization of an original black-and-white photograph, a technique used to enhance visual detail but not part of the original historical record. Lee applied for U.S. citizenship after the war in 1865, but the paperwork was misplaced; his citizenship was not officially restored until 1975. © Reddit #drthehistories

@EchoesofWarYT My great great grandfather was in the 14th VA and was in Pickett’s charge. Captured at the rock fence and was a POW until the end of the war.

Back in the Dukes of Hazzard days, Daisy Duke didn’t just steal scene, she accidentally rewrote summer fashion. Those cut off denim shorts became so iconic they literally got named after her. 1980’s 🔥

@hwinkler4real There is a fine line between comedy and poor taste. Would Johnny Carson have said something like that? There’s a reason why late night talk shows are complete garbage now.

@DirtyMoMedia Make NASCAR great again! Bring back the big sponsors, short tracks, actual stock bodies and no restrictor plates/tapered spacers.

@SpotterBrett Daytona/Talladega haven’t been the same since restrictor plates/tapered spacers. Pack racing is not racing. It’s a wreck waiting to happen and the winner is the lucky one who escaped it.

I stand with Christopher Bell and his comments on Talladega. We need loud stances with him to see change. I once was in the dog house for stating how I felt about the current racing there (J Love was a guest on the show if you wanna go back and listen). 🙏

@bobpockrass @NASCARONFOX Before restrictor plates/tapered spacers, you never had the ‘big one’ at Daytona & Talladega. The drivers need to be able to separate themselves and not ride around in a traffic jam. There have been more accidents since the engines were restricted.

Christopher Bell with a passionate plea for immediate change in the drafting-track superspeedway package. Bell: "It's atrocious. ... It's a complete joke. ... It comes down to just a suicide mission of who is going to push the hardest and not get wrecked." @NASCARONFOX

@mikejoy500 @TALLADEGA @FOXSports @CarsonHocevar The only thing good about that race was Hocevar’s celebration. Those of us old enough to remember superspeedway races before plates/tapered spacers know that riding around in a pack is a disaster waiting to happen. There was no ‘big one’. 1/2

@Frontstretch I hate to break the news to ESPN. But look at the grandstands for the races. Half full, a third full. If they’re not coming to the race, who is paying extra for practice?? What a joke.

So you want superspeedway racing to look like intermediate racing?
Dixie Boy@mcn_rte

@MambaSmith34 Watch any race at Daytona/Talladega from 1987 and earlier to see what a superspeedway race is supposed to look like. No pack racing, no ‘big one’ wrecks Drivers had cars to separate themselves and the best car/driver was evident.

@Libertyordaeth @MambaSmith34 There have been more multi-car accidents and cars in the fence since the restrictor plates/tapered spacers were implemented. Drivers are at risk more so today because they are bumper to bumper lap after lap.

This is the perfect comment Start by looking at the 87 Talladega race Watch Allison fly into, and tear down the fence Then, if you want to know what would have happened if a second car had gone through that hole look up the 1956 LeMans crash Perhaps then you will know why we don’t race like that anymore

Do I think that? I’ve never said I think that… I think that I’ve watched more mid races than good races in my life from Super speedways to 1/4 miles and I still enjoy watching it. I also think a “good race” is wildly subjective to one human’s personal experience. Just my opinion.
Kyle Daley@Kyle_Daley

@MambaSmith34 You don’t have to be “miserable” to be able to objectively see that we have a problem on the superspeedways Mamba. We can do better! Do you really think this package provides drivers w/ options? The only movement at the end was choose rule shuffle. You’re saving fuel or wrecking
