Ryan and Angelie, student ambassadors of Maryland’s youth pickleball delegation, are participants in the "50,000 in five years" initiative which has completed its goal ahead of schedule in only two and a half years. Over 50,000 young people from 50 US states and DC have flown across the Pacific, beheld the profound heritage of Chinese civilization at the Great Wall, experienced the grace of traditional Chinese culture along the Yangtze River, and felt the vibrant pulse of China’s scientific and technological innovation in bustling cities.They have witnessed a booming China with their own eyes, and have also been impressed by a warm and friendly China. From the “pickleball diplomacy", to the “Becoming Chinese” and “Chinamaxxing” trends, to US public opinion surveys on China pointing to a positive rebound for the first time in five years, friendship between our two peoples is brimming with fresh vitality in more diverse ways in the new era.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, contributions and achievements of Black Americans throughout history.
