In Desmos Design, you'll learn how to:
➡️ Add more "verbs" to your activities.
➡️ Add feedback that INTERPRETS rather than EVALUATES student thinking.
➡️ Use Computation Layer and the Graphing Calculator in new ways.
➡️ & more.

"Mrs. McSheene, can I keep doing these practice problems? They're fun." Doing some @Desmos activities today from their curriculum. Honestly surprised at how engaged the kids are staying with only 8 school days remaining. #mtbos#desmos#iteachmath
The LOVE wrap on the sign outside @CardinalsLHS is looking better than ever.
The old one was a little worn after hanging outside for a year, so I gave it a nice wash, flipped inside out since the outside had faded, and crocheted some new letters. #PrideMonth#crochet
So proud of our @CardinalsLHS Knitting and Crochet Club and the amazing mural we made for #PrideMonth. Starting this club this year has brought me so much joy, and I can't wait to continue creating more with these kids next year. 🧶🏳️🌈@LTPS1
"This is the best class we've ever had."
-actual quote from a freshman in my Algebra 1.
Thanks @Desmos for the plethora of engaging activities. Today we're doing "Will it hit the hoop", my favorite way to introduce Quadratic functions.

@BrianneKohl My daughter came home from daycare last year at age 2 talking about her friend "Pumpkins". We finally figured out it was "Hawkins." Later we were trying to figure out who her new friend "Alligator" was... "Oliver." They're all still besties now.
My 8yo daughter met a girl at summer camp last year named "Internet." I said no way, that can't be her name but my daughter has been adamant. For almost a year we've been having this discussion.
ANTOINETTE. I just found out her name is Antoinette.
@howie_hua Happy birthday! I don't know if I can pick just one - I love all your memes/videos, whether just as a lighthearted pick up or an eye opening mathematical shortcut/fact. I've shared so many of your posts with my students and colleagues and I always look forward to your next one!
It's my 30th birthday today!
Awkward ask, but if you want to give me a birthday present, can you reply with something specific that I've shared that has impacted you, whether it's a math meme you laughed at, a teaching tip you used, or a math video you learned from?
@howie_hua How do we feel about ESL - English as a second language? That's usually how I've referred to these students in the past. To be fair, I suppose English could be their third or fourth language, but I do feel it emphasizes their assets.
When all the juniors are doing state testing, the seniors make hexaflexagons. Every math teacher keeps a giant hexaflexagon around for demonstration purposes, right? #mtbos#iteachmath
@hypertrig Yes that's when I use feedback the most. I find it difficult to get kids to log back in when an assignment is completed. As they're working I look for errors, tell students to recheck work, direct them to revisit certain slides.
I don't know that I have the mental bandwidth to successfully run a Desmos activity synchronously.
How do you pace slides, narrate directions, find off task Ss, AND find responses to show the whole class in order to frame the discussion, all in real time??
#mtbos
Last time I was at the CURE arena was almost two years ago for our last in person graduation. It feels very different today, but very fitting getting my vaccine here.
I know we still have a long way to go, but I'm so happy to have taken this step forward. #wearamask
I'm still a bit in shock. Some last minute appointment openings last night and I managed to snag an appointment for today over my lunch break. Feeling so grateful today. The sun is shining, it feels like spring and hope.
