It must bear ancient signs. No bird's nest. Specific markings. Specific surroundings. The tree is prayed to. Permission is sought. Only then is it brought home. In complete secrecy, new idols are carved. Then comes the night. The sacred rituals begins. The temple doors close. The lamps fade. Only a handful remain. Midnight arrives. Time almost stands still. The temple priests blindfold themselves. Then the sacred Brahma Padartha is transferred. From the old idols. Into the new ones. What is it? No one outside that tradition truly knows. Some say it carries a sacred remains from Lord Krishna's cremation. Some say it carries an energy not from our planet. The old wooden bodies are then buried within the temple. Like a human life completing its journey. And suddenly... The Bhagavad Gita begins to look less like philosophy. And more like a living science. The body changes. The essence continues. Modern science tells us that energy is neither created nor destroyed. Indian wisdom spoke of the continuity of the Self thousands of years ago. Perhaps Jagannath was never trying to prove science. Jagannath was quietly asking us to remember who we really are. Maybe the greatest mystery of Puri is not hidden inside the idol. It is hidden inside us. Maybe one day, The science will catch up.
