Since I couldn’t place this piece, I’m making it a thread. Over the years, the majority of the films from Latin America that have been nominated or won an Oscar are set during/related to the dictatorships and sociopolitical troubles that afflicted the region in the 1970s/1980s.

Deeply disappointed. Tonight’s debate was a missed opportunity for our community and our country. Latinos were ill-served by the lack of a thoughtful discussion on the pocketbook issues we care about.
