@mdcpsCFO @Colleen_Wright @MDCPS Not true. Only given the blood test. Several colleagues went and got tested after being exposed at work too and only got the blood test. It’s a quick blood draw and wait 15 minutes for results. No other Covid test is given.

Hearing stuff I’ve never heard before about @mdcps COVID testing. @mdcpsCFO said if an employee tests negative at a district testing site but is still symptomatic, they’re encouraged to get a test from a county site. There is zero about that in the guidance given to employees 1/

@Colleen_Wright @MDCPS Our sites offer rapid tests, which return results in 15 minutes. The county offers PCN tests which have fewer false negatives but take more time to get results. Our employees may go to either or both sites depending on their preference.

@mdcpsCFO @MDCPS Which one is the blood draw? Because that’s all the memo mentions. Doesn’t say anything about antibody tests. If MDCPS is doing COVID tests, why would anyone need to go get another test? Why waste time and instead just go to a county site?

@Colleen_Wright @MDCPS In the very first paragraph it says these sites offer Covid-19 Rapid tests. That is what the employees are getting, plus an antibody test.

@mdcpsCFO @MDCPS .@mdcps doesn’t make that distinction anywhere in the memo and it’s misleading. It makes it sound like it’s a COVID test, period.

@mdcpsCFO @MDCPS then why is a list of county sites being given out to employees? Are both tests done by blood per the memo? The memo does not make that distinction.

@Colleen_Wright False negatives are possible, that is why employees who test negative but are symptomatic are recommended to get a non-rapid test from a County (or other) site. I am glad those two anecdotal cases you mentioned follow that guidance.

Notice the guidance says NOTHING about antibody testing. That matters. Why? A teacher in central Miami-Dade went with her colleague to get tested at Robert Morgan. Both negative. Colleague was symptomatic and went to Baptist urgent care. Positive. The teacher went too. Positive.
