Eastern Open Day 3 Recap:
R5: A sharp one with white against my friend (2230), had good chances to win but let my advantage slip in time pressure ⏳️
R6: Black against another master, got a comfortable position & managed to outplay for the win
4/6 going into the last day!

The fact that my GM opponent made a blunder with plenty of time left should make you [us] feel better. If you cannot find the winning move for B, then you should go back to feeling bad 😅👍

4) As I said, I didn't know the man well, but it is meaningful to me to have a piece of his chess collection and as soon as I got home, I studied the first game in the book. Now a part of my chess book collection, I will treasure it.

1) I played a classical OTB game in Rochester, NY last night (which I won in a miniature). More interestingly, I learned of the passing of László Tapasztó, who was rated about 2400 when I played him 20 years ago. Although I cannot say I knew the man well...

Focus on the fundamentals - calculation, planning, evaluation
Preparing tricky openings might pay off for a couple games, but doesn't seem effective for long-term improvement.
Openings more important for stronger players who've mastered the fundamentals

My best piece of poker advice: Focus on playing good balanced poker. The GTO vs Exploitative argument is a trap. Focus on building strong fundamentals, then you can make some adjustments vs specific opponents. The majority of your study should be on playing correct poker.
