@SpurierThinks lol what? Did you see the overhead angle? It’s a clear ball.

I’ve said it multiple times, Softball umpires are awful. They’ve been awful for a long time. The game is growing. They have to get better. Nobody knows what the fuckin strike zone is in postseason softball

Ball? or Strike?

My final statement on the ABS nonsense …
… if we no longer care about nuances of the game that have made it what it has been for over 100 years, fully automate the strike zone.
Forget the challenges, forget putting any of these calls in umpires hands.
We very obviously have the technology in place. If all that matters is getting the call right every pitch, let’s automate the entire thing and get it over with.
Keep HP umpire back there for plays at the plate and other duties but take balls and strikes away from them completely.
English

For 150 years pitchers were not rewarded for doing that.

I genuinely don’t give a fuck what the ABS system says … that ain’t a strike. You shouldn’t be able to miss your spot THAT BADLY and still get the call for strike three. What are we even doing?
English

@CPhilly19 Flip this the other way…should a hitter be rewarded a ball for taking a strike?
English

@TheDudeEffect But you’re ok with being rewarded for hitting your spot 6 inches out of the zone? The strike zone has never been smaller, there’s no reason a strike should not be called a strike regardless of intention. Hitters should not be rewarded a ball for taking a strike.
English

@mdpowers2 Yeah and they weren’t rewarded with a strike when they missed the target by three feet either
English

Still confused on how you get two bases after the so called interference! 🤔

@NoahB77_ He got rewarded for throwing a shitty breaking ball. Not the baseball I know and love.
English

His spot is middle-middle. Aka Missouri thinks that his pure stuff outweighs the value of trying to be accurate placing his pitches

English

@CPhilly19 Nope. If I have an 0-2 count and my catcher sets up 3 inches on outside corner but i accidentally put it down the middle or inside corner, I want it to be called a strike.
English

Those who actually played the game of baseball past high school at any level will understand exactly what I'm saying.

English

@CPhilly19 You have to hit your spot for it to be called a strike? What’s a pitchers margin of error to be considered hitting your spot?
English

@balkwhisperer @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th Hmm I may need to dig in more. This is a completely different scenario than what occurred in Mariners game. Did umpire in this scenario call obstruction?
English

@mdpowers2 @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th ...2/to be safe at 2nd so he was out. He didn't get to come back to 1st. He risked it and lost.
English

@balkwhisperer @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th So if this ball was thrown to 3rd while the runner was rounding 2nd and obstruction occurs, yes, its umpire judgement on whether there was reasonable chance for runner to get safely to third otherwise he’s returned to 2b. Do I have that right?
English

@balkwhisperer @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th It’s hard to understand what you are trying to portray in this example. I think I know what you’re getting at and maybe I am wrong that the next base isn’t automatically awarded but he wouldn’t be ruled out in any scenario.
English

@balkwhisperer @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th Incorrect. Why is the next base awarded in a run down (regardless which direction runner is headed) when a runner runs into a player within the baselines?
English

@mdpowers2 @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th That's incorrect.
If the umpire believes he never would have achieved 3rd w/o OBS he is out.
English

@mdpowers2 @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th Matt, let's say the OBS happens like it did here. The runner is only slightly impeded. Gets in a rundown between 2nd and 3rd. Are you saying he's automatically protected back to 2nd?
English

@balkwhisperer @GmtravisTravis @SoxOn35th The “protected bag” is the proceeding base from where obstruction occurred, however it is in umpire discretion on where they think he had a reasonable chance to advance without the obstruction.
English

@GmtravisTravis @mdpowers2 @SoxOn35th Just call out obstruction. Then determine placement after the play ends.
English

@JosephL02870375 @WhiteSoxPremium @SoxOn35th “So many other people agree with him” which are 99% White Sox fans who got their feelings hurt by this call.
English

@WhiteSoxPremium @SoxOn35th And so do many other people. I don’t think he caused it. I think he sincerely thought he was in his path and shoved him and apparently that’s what the umpire crew thought or they would’ve called it differently.
