Happy Shavuot Footsteps of Jesus for today: Shavuot Torah Portion The fourth reading of the Torah portion for Shavuot, covering Exodus 19:1-20:28, is a pivotal moment in the history of Israel and in the narrative of the Torah. This portion includes Israel's arrival at Mount Sinai, the preparation for receiving the Torah, the giving of the Ten Commandments, and God's manifestation on the mountain. **Summary of Exodus 19:1-20:28:** Israel arrives at Mount Sinai in the third month after leaving Egypt. God tells Moses to remind the people of how He bore them on eagles' wings and brought them to Himself. If they obey His covenant, they will be a treasured possession, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. The people agree to do all that the Lord has spoken. Moses consecrates the people, and they wash their garments, preparing to meet God. On the third day, there is thunder, lightning, a thick cloud, and the sound of a trumpet. God descends on the mountain in fire, and the whole mountain quakes. God calls Moses to the top of the mountain and then gives the Ten Commandments, instructing the Israelites on how they are to live in relation to God and to one another. **Connection to the Teachings of Yeshua in the Gospels:** Yeshua, in His ministry, reiterated the importance of the law given at Sinai, but He also deepened its meaning, emphasizing the spirit behind the law. In Matthew 5:17, Jesus says, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." He expounds on several of the commandments, teaching that the righteousness God desires goes beyond mere external compliance, reaching into the heart and intentions behind our actions (Matthew 5:21-48). For example, He teaches that anger with one's brother is subject to judgment, just as murder is (Matthew 5:22), and looking at a woman with lustful intent is akin to adultery (Matthew 5:28). **Expounding in the Apostolic Scriptures:** The Apostolic Scriptures, particularly the writings of Paul, further elaborate on the relationship between the believer and the law in light of Christ's fulfillment of it. In Romans 8:3-4, Paul explains that what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son to deal with sin. Believers, therefore, are not under the law but under grace, called to walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit, fulfilling the righteous requirement of the law. **Promise and a Prayer:** The promise found in the giving of the law at Sinai is that of a deep and abiding relationship between God and His people, a promise that is fulfilled and expanded in Jesus Christ, who writes the law on our hearts through the Holy Spirit. In Christ, we are enabled to live lives that reflect God's holiness and love, fulfilling the law through love (Galatians 5:14). Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your law, which guides us in Your ways, given at Sinai to Your servant Moses and Israel on your behalf and for Your Son, Jesus Christ, who has fulfilled the law on our behalf. We pray for the grace to walk according to Your Spirit, that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Help us to love You with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. In Jesus' name, Amen. #shavuot #GodMorningWednesday #pentecost #jesus #yeshua

Footsteps of Yeshua for today The Torah portion Naso, specifically in the third reading from Numbers 5:1-10, discusses various instructions from the Lord, including the requirement for the children of Israel to put out of the camp every leper, everyone that has a discharge, and whoever is defiled by the dead. This section also addresses the issue of restitution for wrongs done against others, emphasizing the importance of confession, repentance, and making amends for sins committed against another person. Connecting these principles to Yeshua’s teachings in the Gospels, we find a profound emphasis on purity, repentance, and forgiveness. Yeshua, in His ministry, demonstrated the fulfillment of these laws through His actions and teachings. For instance, He touched and healed lepers, showing that He came to cleanse us from our spiritual leprosy—sin (see Matthew 8:1-3). Yeshua also taught extensively on forgiveness, highlighting its importance in the Lord’s Prayer: "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" (Matthew 6:12). Furthermore, He emphasized that if we are offering our gift at the altar and there remember that our brother has something against us, we should first be reconciled to our brother before offering the gift (Matthew 5:23-24), echoing the Torah's emphasis on making restitution before the Lord. In the Apostolic Scriptures (New Testament), these themes are expanded upon, particularly in the concept of spiritual purity and the importance of being reconciled to God and one another through Christ. The Apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, writes, "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." This passage highlights that through Yeshua, we are not only cleansed from our sins but are also called to be agents of reconciliation, embodying the principles of confession, repentance, and making amends as outlined in the Torah. **Promise and a Prayer:** The promise found in these teachings is the assurance of forgiveness and restoration with God and our fellow man through Yeshua the Messiah. As we seek to apply these principles in our lives, let us pray: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your laws that guide us toward righteousness and for Your Son, Yeshua, who fulfilled the Law and made it possible for us to be reconciled to You. Help us to live lives marked by purity, confession, repentance, and forgiveness. May we be instruments of Your peace and reconciliation in this world. Teach us to make amends where we have wronged others and to walk in the grace and forgiveness You have offered us. In Yeshua’s name, Amen. #yeshua #Torah #WordOfGod #promise #prayer #GodMorningTuesday
