Clearance level in Cryo Archive being COMPLETE RNG is also a REALLY bad design IMO Some runs you actually just can't move around the map because you don't get enough terminals / passes to get clearance level 2. And other teams can rush your spawn w/ good RNG.

I just cant believe the "raid-like" mechanics in Marathon that Bungie teased ending up being "interact with 3 monitors with the same symbol". I knew that marketing Cryo as a "raid-like" thing was a bait (it wouldnt work in this genre) but I still expected something more than that

I need the AAA game industry to downsize budgets and start making more games like Marathon, that have a very specific and potentially niche vision which is targeted towards a very specific group of people who'll become diehard fans of said game.

@jingelhymer Are we grouping everyone who has full time jobs and other various responsibilities under the term “middle-aged”? What age range do you think middle-aged encapsulates?

I've noticed a trend of middle aged adults who can't come to terms with the fact that they're no longer the targeted demographic and instead of just understanding that some thing just aren't made for people who can't invest time they'll instead go online and throw temper tantrums and demand things be made easier so they can play too, because they're in denial that they're no longer kids. In all honesty its a hard truth to swallow. You dont have the time you used to. You can't play all the video games you want anymore. That sucks dood. But your complaining and demands that every game fit your schedule or be lowered to an easier difficulty that you can handle is killing them and ruining it for the people who the game is made for. Luckily for you we live in a time where there are THOUSANDS of games to play that can fit you and your schedule or difficulty. Just not this one.

@meFossa @VileFate A battery, security card, and coolant arent loot cause its a core part of the map, same as the outpost Keycards. They only serve the purpose of being used as mechanical items, no exfilling them, selling, ext.

@Onepeg I don't think it's that big a deal to do a weekend-only playlist but this is a completely different comparison. WoW had plenty of content for those people that couldn't do the hardcore raids, Marathon isn't exactly overflowing with different things to do lol

World of Warcraft, OG years during Wrath there was a hard mode only boss, Algalon the Observer, that was only available for 1 hour per week and only available for the 25 man raid instance. MILLIONS of players never beat it because it was hard and took dedication. Even AFTER when it was current content and guilds were decked out in end-game expansion gear from Icecrown, guilds STILL couldn’t beat it. There is no difference here. Would you like to beat it? Sure. Should you feel ENTITLED? No. Too bad. So sad. Either improve, get lucky, or get someone to carry you to experience it. Failing that, the studio owes us nothing. You can experience every other aspect of the game you like. Getting clapped in PvP is part of the game that everyone bought and knew they were getting that when they bought it. Tail wagging the dog argument, imo, and it’s likely I’ll ALSO never see it. That isn’t bungie’s fault. That is my lack of patience.

@DestinyTheGame let us create another save file so we can start fresh after you start redoing all the raid and dungeon loot. Maybe add t5 to the old expansions and release in waves. I’d rebuild on a second account but I don’t want to pay for dungeons again.

@MallowTheQueen Everyone championing this idea better remember they said this when Bungie can’t afford this game due to lack of players. I understand the sentiment but this game is way too expensive to support it. This was supposed to revitalize Bungie.

Cryo Archive should not appeal to Casuals, at least at first. It's the endgame, and should therefore be something players of all skill levels and experiences work towards. Like D2 Raids, you tackle it when you're ready, even if that's months later. You can overcome it with effort

@Arrrrash Gold load outs won’t be playing perimeter unless it’s for ranked tbh. The map is already designed for starting or low income players.

I wonder if Marathon needs to implement a loadout max value for some of the early maps. As some teams are getting absolutely juiced from Cryo and possibly ranked I can’t imagine newer players who are just trying to do contracts on perimeter are going to have much fun if they just get farmed by dudes with gold loadouts What do you guys think?

Cryo: Unlocks at 10 AM PT on Friday (first opens on Friday 3/20) Closes at 10 AM PT on Monday (first closes on Monday 3/23) Ranked: Unlocks at 10 AM PT on Saturday (first opens on Saturday 3/21) Closes at 10 AM PT on Tuesday (first closes on Tuesday 3/24) Once again, as we see and learn more we're open to iterating on the schedule in future updates. I've loved the marathon ARG so far, but noooooot particularly happy if it turns out that after all the work the community has put in it turns out that we have to wait until Skarrow and Milo get to Bungie HQ for Cryo to unlock
