Media outlets shape content to retain audience, not to serve a higher journalistic purpose. Claims of objectity are marketing strategies, not declarations of principle.

I concede that those lyrics are homophobic. The use of the word "abomination," etc. Is this the intolerance you are referring to? If so, keep in mind that there are millions of people out there who are completely indifferent to the behavior and opinions of the LGBT community. They have no interest in getting the letter sequence right. They don't want to hear the latest outrage. And why? Because it's been in their faces for years now. We get it. You are here. Now go about your business and stop banging your drum. Nobody is coming for you.

Disappointed that a number of white, American pitchers for the @SFGiants chose to wear caps with Genesis 9:16 scrawled next to a rainbowed logo on Pride Night last week, and one opted to not wear the pride cap at all. @GrantBrisbee nails the problem in his Athletic post: "Pride Night is about bringing more people into the group and telling them they belong in the same stadium, rooting for the same team." "Pride Night is about support and lifting human beings. Making it about something else — yourself, say, or the idea that some people aren’t as worthy of recognition or support — shows how little some people actually care about a message of love." nytimes.com/athletic/73581… The Giants issued a statement which included this, at least: "We understand that the choices by individual players have caused pain and anger to many in the LGBTQ+ community and we are sorry for that. Those choices do not change our organization’s commitment to inclusion, belonging, and creating a welcoming environment for all." sfstandard.com/2026/06/14/sf-…

Just because the pitchers chose to do something different, it doesn't translate to homophobia or "promot(ing) a lack of tolerance." Your objection seems to be that they dared to fail to genuflect to the rainbow flag, which in your mind immediately equals homophobia and intolerance.

No to the last question. Kaepernick is respectfully exercising his rights to note the oppression of Black Americans. Regarding my response to the pitchers, they are free to do what they want. But Kaepernick was opposing oppression, they were, imo, promoting it. Christians are of course welcome to Oracle Park. I have attended games there with devout Christian friends. There is no conflict with welcoming LGBTQ and Christians. I am just observing that the majority of American participants in baseball are white, frequently from parts of the country where homophobia is widespread. Most of the players who have worn the hats with the Genesis citation are white (Nick Ahmed is not). White, heterosexual Christian men are hardly an oppressed group in this country. LGBTQ individuals remain oppressed. I am very disappointed that these men do not see their position of privilege and choose to promote a lack of tolerance.

Homophobes have found a new favorite team: The San Francisco Giants. The Giants doubled down on their anti-gay players, giving them cover, deflecting responsibility and taking their giant middle finger and giving it right to the LGBTQ community. outsports.com/2026/6/15/2413…

@CandlestickWill So it's the bible verses that offend you then. So if it matters what they stand for, do you support people who were offended by Kaepernick?

Absolutely not It’s what they stand for that matters Kaepernick wanting police to stop brutalizing Black people is worthy or support. Cops who hate Black people for existing should be protested. Roupp and others who hate LGBTQIA+ people for existing should be called out too

@CandlestickWill So athletes who insert their own values into a sporting event annoy you?

@SkylineReport Try some of that "razor sharp analysis" into military tradition to salute a Medal of Honor recipient. He's the guy on the left with the pretty blue ribbon with all the stars.

This is beyond ludicrous. Why the hell are U.S. Marines and soldiers saluting a UFC fighter? The military swears an oath to the Constitution, not celebrities, influencers, or the latest personality cult. Watching service members rendered as props for a UFC spectacle is beneath the dignity of the uniform and beneath the dignity of the country.

Several Giants players wrote Bible verses on their caps to respond to Pride Night. The gesture echoed a familiar pattern: making a night meant for inclusion about something else entirely. Read more for free, from @GrantBrisbee: nyti.ms/3Q23q8J

My name is Jose Garcia Acosta. I am a United States Navy Chief. I am also Apache as my grandfather is from the Mescalero Apache tribe. Someone said it is disgraceful for me to wear a uniform for the USA if I am Native American. Let me tell you this. I am Apache and American. We do not come up with excuses not to serve or go to battle for our people." Photo via: Native American History

Maybe you don't follow baseball, but there is a big controversy now because it was "Pride Night" in San Francisco the other night, the SF Giants' players were supposed to wear caps where the "SF" logo (normally in orange) was instead in rainbow colors, and several of the pitchers wrote Biblical verses on their hats next to the rainbow "SF." Predictably, the SF crowd is apoplectic, labeling these players "bigots" and "homophobes." Query: when your employer forces you to wear imagery that is abhorrent to your deeply-held, long-established religious beliefs, who is the "bigot"? (And don't tell me "Well then they shouldn't be in MLB," because you are saying you must abandon your religion to work.) It's the complaining LGBTQ+ crowd who are the "bigots" in this case.

Most discussion of politics is pointless. There are two reasons why. First is confirmation bias. This means that you believe things you hear or see that confirm what you already believe or want to be true. Second is cognitive dissonance. This is a negative psychological reaction to information that you disagree with, true or not. Most people never rise above these.

@JumboElliott76 You don't want to "start anew." You want illegal immigration. The reason that 100K children have been separated is that their parent(s) are illegals and subject to deportation. The children are free to go with them to their country of origin.
