You need insane levels of pain tolerance in the short and medium term. and by pain tolerance, I refer to the ability to grind while everything is in the shitter - grind, not just survive only by doing that does the thought of "it always works out" become a reality. and it is magical to witness
Katherine Boyle@KTmBoyle

Imagine what you would do if you knew you couldn’t lose the game in the short or medium term. If you had so much leverage that you could take the big swing. Many things make more sense when you look at them through the lens of inevitability and work backwards. No one believes in inevitability, of course. But if you did, you might act differently.

@TrevMcKendrick I would love to have you try out @slashapp. You will make more money (better rates) and we’ve obsessed over keeping the product lightweight. Will DM and would love to personally demo you.

The current paradigm of VCs trashing portco competitors as some form of recurring loyalty ritual is already so tired & cringe

There are clear windows to focus on markets / new assets -- mobile in ~2010, crypto in ~2017, AI apps in ~2022. These are often much more obvious in hindsight, but even 'playing for the beta' generated spectacular returns in many cases. The recent example of the last year has to be private Mag 7.

oh interesting. I see you were a founder of "stealth" in the past. your former company that no longer exists is still in stealth?

lot of fundraising advice on 'running a really tight process' and creating a ton of fomo to get a deal done. i'll take the counter here. the founders i know that are happiest with their lead investors spent significant time with the partner on their deal to see if it was a mutual fit. not everything is a game. you are entering into a 10 year partnership with someone, it would likely behoove you to get to know them really well before giving them a massive chunk of your company. also, some investors do really well in the first few meetings and then become totally different people after several hours spent together

Introducing Slash Accounting Automation: The world’s fastest way to categorize expenses… To prove it to you I risked my life and free fell from 12,000 feet. Forever, finance teams have wasted 10+ hours/mo on manual expense work. > Uploading receipts > Assigning categories > Matching transactions > Exporting to your ERP > Repeat 200x We built the world’s best accounting automation to kill this completely. 1. Auto-categorization catches transactions as they hit your account 2. Purchases are instantly tagged with your ERP properties 3. Batch approvals process 1,000s of entries in seconds, not hours Everything syncs directly to QuickBooks. > No CSV exports > No manual data entry > No reconciliation headaches Natalia processed an entire month of company expenses in under 60 seconds. That workflow used to take finance teams hours they don’t have.

Translation: "I passed on Prediction Markets for 6 years until they decided to do sports"
sourcery@sourceryy

.@aleximm says it’s hard to find more resilient founders than Kalshi’s @mansourtarek_ & @luanalopeslara: “They were punched in the face for 4 years and told ‘no.’” “They took the difficult but responsible path to get licenses—being the first CFTC regulated prediction market.”

Worst type of guy on here is one that makes fun of people for trying much easier to dunk on people putting themselves out there than to put yourself out there
