This is smart. People might say "Get them an Apple Watch, it has health stuff, fall detection, etc" but Apple Watches are overwhelming when you just want to make sure someone's OK.
A screenless health monitor that someone else can set up for them, and can alert others of major routine changes, health metrics that are out of normal, falls, etc, is such a good idea. Make it as comfortable as a wristband, not a fashion statement.
Not "tech" — just a life saver.
