Fun Fact Friday #95:
Buzzers are a category of hovering drone that can be loosely defined as being of a certain large size and doing heavy fire support roles. They are named after the often distinctive low thunder and buzzing sound they make. They differ from smaller drones by (usually) being powered by small jet or fusion engines much like AVs and are often piloted by more specialized operators.
Buzzers range in size from 5 feet wide to 50 ft or more, the line between a buzzer and an AV is pretty fuzzy. Buzzer drones are often unmanned, and AVs are manned, but as buzzers get up there in size it gets hard to distinguish them from automated AVs. What a better thing to look at is their role. Buzzers are often used as heavy fire support for ground troops.
Buzzers are a broad category, there is no one role they play. There are screen buzzers, providing cover via active defense systems to protect from enemy missiles or other projectiles. Cannon buzzers, flying a big and heavy blaster cannon around the battlefield and hitting fortified enemy positions. Pod buzzers, which have an array or pod of small missiles each smart enough to track enemy locations and adjust their course. Or they could just carry a big bomb to a target and blow it up. Many buzzers are built to do all of these tasks (with some specializing in some), they are not cheap and disposable like many smaller drones though.
Buzzers are normally operated by dedicated specialist drone operators. They are somewhere in between a regular FPV drone operator and a helicopter pilot, and usually attached to a unit rather than making up the body of it. Buzzer operators usually work in groups, they communicate with each other to accomplish a shared goal, as well as having direct comms to any ground units they may be supporting. They usually operate at some hq decently far away from whatever front, but may have to get in closer because of jamming or other electronic interference with the connection between operator in Buzzer.
Buzzers, just like other vehicles and AVs, often have active countermeasures. And because they are quite expensive to build and maintain, they are given the best physical and electronic countermeasures. This prevents easy tracking and locking from enemy weapons, and physical countermeasures might look like AV active counter measures where small missile pods intercept enemy missiles.
Buzzers often are also built to sustain small arms fire, so shooting it with a few blaster bolts wont take it down. Many call these things flying tanks for a reason.
This is not just an Eckzahn concept, virtually all militaries and PMCs in the Orion arm field Buzzers.
The Eckzahn dont have too many of these on Earth, figuring much lighter and smaller drones can do the job just fine. But there are some, waiting for their time to be used.

Fun Fact Friday #94:
The Free Earth Movement has to not only police their own, but anyone who might compromise their mission. “Commissars ” go by many names depending on where they operate."Inquisitors", “Fedayeen ”, "Pinkertons", "Montoneros" and many more . They are responsible for protecting the integrity of the FEM through both the internal keeping of law and order, and extrajudicial “repremandation”.
The word “Commissar” is often generous. The majority of the time they are no more than FEM-alligned thugs, used to keep order and suppress the public from working with the Eckzahn. Only with the bigger cells will you get more professional, military police or intelligence agency types. But for the majority of cells this often devolves into a glorified street gang
These commissars are the FEM’s way of dealing with threats that come from their fellow man. They wear plains clothes and go into cities to either gather information on a potential threat or leak, surveil people of interest, or seek out individuals who have betrayed the FEM or collaborated with the Eckzahn. These collaborators, as they are called, are dealt punishments which are (most of the time) appropriate to the action they did.
People targeted by the commissars are not always members of the FEM themselves, but also could be members of the Eckzahn backed puppet government, or just ordinary civilians who work with the Eckzahn. Commissars are oftentimes used to intimidate the public out of collaborating with the Eckzhan. If civilians help sus out potential rebel locations or activity, through word of mouth the Commissars may come to deal with them
And they are not usually nice about it. They will beat people up, steal from and extort those seen collaborating with the Eckzahn. The extent of which depends on the specific cell, some cells are much more harsh than others. But what is common throughout cells, is that Commissars are recruited from the people who hate the Eckzahn the most. Those willing to do anything to get back at them. They are known to make people disappear, whether to face internal FEM trials or disappear for good.
Bigger FEM cells often have routine communications with each other, included in this communication is often information of potential security threats, often including people that may jeopardize FEM operations. So Commissars from different cells often share information and even hold joint operations if the need arises.
Commissars often deal with internal law and order of the cell. They act similar to military police, when someone has done something against the rules, they bring them before the leadership and punish them if applicable. They usually answer to the leadership of the cell directly.

@JayK_AND I suggest running. That is your only option. But you won't get very far.

@JayK_AND Drone scramblers would work against these drones or hack them to use against the enemy.
