@Xathian1 @WBETA_NEXUS Apparently, now there is bevel shader for that. Makes retopo of static objects completely obsolete (it was pointless from the start, too). But there is inertia. Also, less popular, but for many tasks quadremesher on top of crazy booleans and CAD bevels does the job quite well.

This might be a controversial hot take but I feel the same way about the explosion of use of CAD in the game art industry right now. I've worked with people who swear by it; "It's just so much better and faster to capture specific shapes and boolean workflows" yet every single one of them spends just as long, if not longer, fixing the horrendous CAD-to-subd topology Plasticity outputs than I would just modeling the same thing in Blender.

So the excuse is “romance takes too much time, money, and effort” to include in their RPGs. Okay… you would think that extra time and effort went into making other aspects of the RPGs exceptional then. Except Avowed and The Outer Worlds were just… fine? If anything, both games probably would’ve been more enjoyable with companion romances included. Especially because they keep dancing around the idea anyway. Avowed practically does the “almost romance” thing with Kai and the first Outer Worlds literally had an entire companion questline centered around Parvati’s sexuality and romantic life while the player played third wheel. And players have been asking for romance options for years. So at this point it feels less like “we can’t do it” and more like “we don’t think it matters,” despite RPG audiences repeatedly telling them that it absolutely does.

RPG developer Josh Sawyer says Obsidian Entertainment is not against romance systems like the ones in Baldur’s Gate 3. He explained that these features take a huge amount of time, money, and work to create properly. “It’s not like an opposition to their existence,” Sawyer said. “It’s just that I don’t know if we’re going to be able to do it.” Sawyer said romance systems need a lot of extra writing, voice acting, cutscenes, and character reactions. Because of this, Obsidian would rather focus on other parts of a game instead of adding romances that feel incomplete or low quality. He also said players now expect romance content to be as detailed as Baldur’s Gate 3, which raised the standard for RPG games. Sawyer added that Obsidian still cares about emotional stories and character relationships.

@aynekko These are cool shaders, not to deny it, but I am working on some procedural buildings and have a theory that having an actual box behind each window will make no difference whatsoever. I have less buildings and less floors, though.

This is called interior mapping, and I also did that in my #Xash3D engine game. I have tested it as low as Nvidia 8600 GT from 2007 and, surprisingly, this particular setup isn't GPU-heavy at all.

@MUSTAPHA_SA_ @esonoku I mean... as Altair I would enter combat mode against 20 guys, he would hold his hidden blade behind his back, and seemingly out of nowhere one-shot dudes with what appears like bare hands in a couple of moves. After a few die, others get scared, then break and run away.

I'll never get tired of this 😆 @3Dconnexion Spacemouse in Houdini, practicing my virtual drone camerawork. Such a precise and responsive controller. Pursuing the idea of recording camera motion manually instead of using curve paths, makes it imperfect and more real I think

@TimothyEveland You'll need 1500 of these for a movie. So you make them cheap. However, many props studios in Hollywood are actually extremely good at painting and weathering armor. Whoever was behind that Nolan fiasco is an embarassment.

@gameunlocked26 Youngsters these days. Why are they always running around in all of these "gameplay is amazing" videos? Were are 100 guards with one-shot pistols coming from all sides after hearing the sound of a single step? In my days, there was none of that!
