I got over 500 emails from concerned citizens about the special education funding that was stripped from the budget. #KSLEG hasn’t funded SPED according to Kansas law since 2011. How did your Representative vote on the amendment to restore it? I voted YES!

@meischa Comments I've heard deal w/privacy or data breach issues. Also, should a school deny a diploma to a student after completion of all academic work but without a FAFSA? Perhaps make it a school requirement--not pinning graduation on the student's family compliance.

Why would they remove this as a graduation requirement?? The FASFA can be confusing and a daunting experience . As a requirement, schools help kids fill them out when they otherwise couldn’t/wouldn’t. This is dumb. #ksed

The agenda item regarding action on the removal of the FAFSA from graduation requirements, scheduled for Wednesday, will be moved to the board’s March agenda. Board members are expected to take up the rest of Wednesday’s agenda items on Tuesday.

@TriciaBurt They will allow graduation with an exception if for some reason the student can’t fill it out. All of that data is already somewhere else that could be breached. I just believe it needs to be left as a requirement so that the school has to assist in filling it out.
