Recently, I’ve been imagining a world in which Carolyn (and every living legend from my hometown) was enjoying a chill, carefree retirement - though I can’t picture a reality in which she would ever stop singing. She’s got a new-old 45 out today, in fact. 🎶

Her story resonated with me on a deep level, and got me thinking in new ways about ambition, success, failure, and resilience - partly because a week after we met, I was tossed off the media roller coaster for like the 5th or 6th time (who’s counting).
