@Blubberlust @Blubberlust, there is no constant communication. The license is stored on the server and cached on your computer. There is no data traveling back from your computer to the server except for the request to download the license periodically.

@mellel_wp I appreciate Mellel very much, it's my favorite word processor. Margin notes alone are missing. I don't mind that it now checks the license online. But it now communicates permanently during the entire use with the Mellel-sever. I feel watched.

@theparkernathan We never charged for upgrades per version. Our upgrade policy is that you can upgrade for free for two years after purchase. When the app notifies you on an update, it will tell you if you're eligible for free or not so you don't need to figure it out.

@mellel_wp Instead of the current paid upgrade schedule, it might be simpler if you went back to charging paid upgrades each time a new version of Mellel was released, then try to release one about every two years. That way people don’t have to figure out when to pay to upgrade.
