The NHS is not a charity. The NHS is a public service, and should be properly funded🚨 If you agree, RT.

It's nesting season and our garden birds are working hard. All wild birds, their nests and eggs are protected by law. It’s important not to disturb them, so remember to leave the hedge-trimming until later in the year. 🐣🌳😊

Dear Councils..... Can we just agree that cutting down grass that’s rich in wild flowers and therefore a habitat, and supporting climate and ecological emergencies isn’t essential work? In fact it’s essential it’s NOT done!!

@Coleopterist @herdyshepherd1 @BlattaMann Difficult to tell without a look at the elytral apex under a scope - colour being more yellow leans towards Aphodius fimetarius though. Miraldo et al. 2014 and Fery & Rossner 2015 have descriptions and nice pictures - but beware of nomenclature differences in the latter!

@herdyshepherd1 They're all Aphodius in the old sense i.e. small dung beetles. The red one is difficult but @memma_smith may be able to advise. The others are 'Aphodius' prodromus/ 'Aphodius' sphacelatus - a difficult pair to separate but @BlattaMann is really hot on them...

Have you noticed the colour of the water in all the pictures of flooding & swollen rivers across the UK? That's our top soil being washed away because of poor agricultural policy Yes, some of the thinking in Env and Agricultural Bills should help, but implementation is key

Sometimes I look like this, it’s not good. It doesn’t have to be this way if everyone joins the dots. Help please!

Tree planting is important, but it must not destroy much rarer, valuable habitats. This wildflower-rich grassland in Cumbria has been planted without thought to the Butterfly Orchids, Betony, Scabious, Restharrow, Harebell and assoc'd biodiversity. Please RT to raise awareness!

Mary-Emma Smith makes the crowd chuckle when explaining the lengthy titles she could have used for her talk on nerdily comparing two very similar species of dung beetles 😄 #ColeopteristsDay @morethanadodo

SCIENTISTS: “We’ve produced the first-ever image of a supermassive Black Hole, 55-million light years away” RESPONSE: “Oooh!” SCIENTISTS: “We’ve concluded that humans are catastrophically warming Earth” RESPONSE: “That conflicts with what I want to be true, so it must be false”
