Sentence Initially arrested on administrative charges of disobeying the police, Saniya was later charged with participating in mass riots and using violence against officials. During the demonstration outside the Baymak courthouse, security forces deployed batons, tear gas, and stun grenades. In response, some in the crowd threw snowballs. Investigators alleged that 'unidentified persons' had employed 'violence not life-threatening or harmful to health'. Saniya was sentenced to five and a half years in prison. Her son, Danis, received four and a half years. No specific charges of violence were brought.
