This is like 14 months belated but… at Rad Pride 2022 someone left a belt pack with us to mend, which we did, but the number you left with us didn't work. We waited to see if we'd hear from you, but never did. If this was yours, or you know the person it belongs to, let us know!
This Sunday! Come join us at Peninsula Park. We'll be focusing on sashiko mending methods, and sharing with/helping anyone who wants to learn! It's a great technique for jeans. We're no experts but we can all play with thread together.
Please wear a mask—we keep us safe!
Come mend with us in the park this weekend! We'll be at Mt. Scott Park in SE from 4 to 6 on Saturday. Please wear a mask, we keep us safe.
We'll have some darning tools & supplies and will be happy to show you the basics of darning holes. Great for socks!
Come stitch with us on Sunday! Peninsula Park 2–4 — we’ll try to be at the tables under the roof, but if that’s occupied we’ll be by the playground area.
Please wear a mask. We keep us safe!
Forgot to mention, masks are strongly encouraged, but won’t be required when folks are sitting with people they came with or at tables where everyone is comfortable, since there are tables spaced far apart outdoors. Please bring one and wear it when nearby others!
We’re coming back to mend-together days in parks for the third year! On Saturday we’ll be in SE at Mt Scott, and we may have some kind of themed events this year, like teaching specific techniques or crafts, so let us know if there’s something like that you’d be interested in!
Any other PDX blocs be interested in partnering with BeanBloc?
This would just mean, whenever we get beans, we let you know how many bags/what kind. Then, if youre in NE pdx and want to, you can snag a bag. When youre making a delivery, you can ask folks if they also want beans.
@mendingbloc I was just talking to a comrade the other day about how unhoused people almost never have things made w them as the intended user. I don’t want that to be the case w the things I am making for them. I want to hear their feedback and be able to make something that really fits.
After getting a billion zippers from @xea_xeandra and these canvas sheets from old cots from @mendingbloc I’m practicing my zipper sewing skills by making bags for unhoused neighbors. The 1st attempt is a mutant oversized clutch but I’m excited to try and improve on my design.
