@JimmyTalksPats also Campbell probably won't play 17 (only played 13 last year), backup OT usually gets at least 5-6 starts a year

Not sure why everyone is so sure that it’s a redshirt year for Lomu… 1. Moses unlikely to play 17 games again 2. Vrabel might start him over Moses, even if he’s not definitively better (he started Wilson over Brown… Brown played better) 3. He *could* flat out beat Moses out

@Krissa_Kray_ You can get more return elsewhere, even just sticking it in a High Yield Savings account gets you 3.5% and you can pull it for an emergency, so you are borrowing that money at 2% and sending it back out at 3.5% so significant profit (even more if you have it in the market)

Can someone explain like I’m 5 why you shouldn’t pay off your home early if the rate is low? I have no idea why continuing to owe on something you can own outright is the “right strategy” - it’s interest you don’t have to pay in the long run… no matter how low the rate? Right?
The Money Cruncher, CPA@money_cruncher

My coworker has a 1.99% mortgage. That is something you should NEVER pay off early. Inflation is at least 3%/yr. Why would anyone pay that off aggressively? It makes absolutely 0 sense.

@stefspeaksports It's also a nearly 2 hour walk and I'm pretty sure some of those roads near the end are going to be sealed off for the security perimeter

99% of new jersey roads have sidewalks (for what reason i don't know) i'd say probably less than 50% of those SHOULD be walked on. there's a reason why you don't see any pedestrians in any of the images you're posting
Sam Winton@Samwinton99

@LainNJD @lazybuchanan @stefspeaksports Then why does the path exist. Why are there traffic lights for the pedestrians, why is there tactile paving at every road intersection. The path has clearly been built (fairly well) with the intention of being used

@salingergregor @daviruz Sure.. but there is no incentive to do so, why would they spend millions on a walking path that they don't need, just so tourists can avoid paying to get to the stadium for a once every 30 years event?

if they keep this bs up there will be 50k intl fans each game day who just take a regular train to Rutherford and WALK the 1h to the MetLife Stadium. I know walking is an unfamiliar concept for most Americans, but it is a thing in the rest of the world.

From @TheAthleticFC: New Jersey Transit confirmed on Friday that World Cup match goers will be charged $150 for a return rail trip from New York's Penn Station to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this summer. Tickets are ordinarily priced at $12.90. nyti.ms/4sHcLzR

Have you noticed that core competence of staff for things like hotels, gas stations, restaurants etc has fallen to the point of being almost useless? Nobody seems able to do even the basics of their jobs and this is getting worse.

Yes, because tap water is safe to drink in major U.S. cities. I've lived in places where you can't drink tap water and it is a huge pain. Shanghai is not as "developed" -- a problematic term, I recognize -- as cities with 24/7 potable water. @haugejostein's take is ridiculous.

@iamrahstradamus If people want to argue that Kerr ended up overrated ( I don't agree)... I'll listen to it, but that argument if anything would come from "Mark Jackson was an all-time dogshit coach" not that Jackson got a raw deal

So here's the thing. I'm black so I can say this.....a lot of black people feel that black head coaches get a raw deal and generally they're correct but this is NOT one of those cases. The people saying this about Mark Jackson and Steve Kerr have unsophisticated basketball minds and aren't aware of what they were seeing.
Sam Quinn@SamQuinnCBS

Mark Jackson had Stephen Curry on his team and still coached an offense that ranked 30th in passes per game. I can’t believe people are still trying to litigate this. There is no dynasty without Steve Kerr.

@AdamCrafton_ FIFA's business model depends on screwing somebody, generally the US has been one of the few countries where the governments refuse to let it be them, so it flows down even more to the fan, where other places the country/state eats huge losses

Remarkable tonight, as FIFA go on record to accuse New Jersey of a “chilling effect” on the World Cup with high transit prices. That is the FIFA of unprecedentedly high match tickets, $300 car park spaces, 30% cut on every exorbitantly sold ticket on their own resale platform.

NFL GMs during free agency: uhhhhh there’s just no way we can pay the Super Bowl MVP RB more than rotational deep threat Rashid Shaheed NFL GMs during the draft: positional value is a neoliberal globalist conspiracy
Peter Schrager@PSchrags

Text from a respected NFL GM in response to a heated discussion we had on "The Schrager Hour" over whether a team can really take a safety (Downs) in the top 5 in 2026: "Throw positional value out this year." Food for thought.

@UConnTim It's also pretty silly for Boston, WNBA is a growing league, but trying to put a 2nd team in an 1:30 radius is not something that would make sense a bid would have been a waste of time unless the league was planning to move the Sun

I stand by my original response, but to elaborate a bit: It’s obvious Cathy is referring to expansion bids, which is so disgustingly disingenuous. Boston, sure, but the idea of Hartford needing to apply for WNBA expansion to get the Connecticut Sun is certifiably insane. Insane.
Jaden Daly@DalyDoseOfHoops

I’ll leave this right here for @UConnTim, because his answer will be more eloquent and thoughtful than mine.
