The marathon is one of East Africa’s premier road races, attracting runners from across the region and beyond. It features three race categories – the full marathon (42.2 km), half marathon (21.1 km), and a 5 km fun run. @kenet_ke is hosting a delegation from South African Broadband Education Networks (SABEN), led by their Managing Director, Garth Schulz, for a two-day benchmarking visit. The visit is intended to provide the SABEN team with a deeper understanding of how KENET delivers on its mandate. It also offers an opportunity for both institutions to learn from each other’s successes and challenges, and identify areas of synergy and potential collaboration in strengthening digital infrastructure and expanding access to reliable, high-quality connectivity for the education sector. SABEN is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing education by providing high-speed broadband and ICT solutions to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and schools across South Africa as part of the country’s National Research and Education Network (NREN). #KENET

The fourth ICANN cybersecurity workshop is underway at Silver Palm Spa & Resort, Kilifi County for the Coast Region cohort. This five-day, hands-on training seeks to equip System Administrators, Network Administrators, and ICT Support staff from @kenet_ke member institutions with practical skills in securing institutional email systems, websites, and identity platforms, as well as protecting campus networks and critical IT assets. The program is part of a two-year project titled “Strengthening Kenya's Cybersecurity Posture: Inclusive Capacity Building across Five Regions,” whose aim is to build a strong pool of skilled ICT professionals capable of enhancing cybersecurity within their respective institutions across the country. #KENET #Cybersecurity

Today, I had the honour of presiding over the inaugural Graduation Ceremony of Bungoma National Polytechnic, celebrating over 4,000 graduates including 20 RPL achievers. I expressed special recognition to TVET Principals across the country whose commitment continues to steer our institutions toward greater self-sustainability and stronger alignment with industry needs. I also extended Congratulations to Bungoma National Polytechnic graduates their hard work, resilience and determination. In the year 2025, the focus has been CBET implementation and the modularization of the curriculum, with institutions like Bungoma already conducting their summative assessments. I encouraged TVET institutions to deepen collaboration with KSTVET, especially in upskilling trainers and to work toward establishing production units that will position TVETs as true centres of training for industrialisation. I reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to deploying skilled graduates in National and County Governments projects, including roads and the affordable housing programme. To the graduates, I reminded them that education remains the most powerful weapon for success and urged them to stay focused, stay hungry for growth.
