@DougSaunders His replacement will be the 6th prime minister in 10 years. At some point they need to reckon with how out of control the caucus revolt system has become

A huge congratulations to the Montreal Canadiens on their trip to the conference finals. Built right, through the draft. A great accomplishment for the Habs.

@mndamico Not sure I’ve seen that before, a team scores and the refs just say no

Buffalo just got bailed out by the refs there after Phil Danault put that in off a Josh Anderson rebound. At 3-1 this game would have been overwhelmingly in favour of Montreal there.

@Noahpinion Are you ok with a system that does not allow for regular citizens to contribute to the selection of the leader, if that system is still capable of producing leaders of the quality you recognize?

Deng and his chosen successors (Jiang and Hu) were amazing leaders -- some of the best in modern history. Xi Jinping has appropriated their achievements, stolen their valor, coasted on their momentum, and turned China in a less effective direction.
🕳️ Stochastic Dreams@GenHeres123

@Noahpinion Do you think China would have reached where it is today without these leaders? It is difficult to imagine China as it is now without Deng's reforms and the guidance of the ruling party

@yyzsportsmedia The vibes at 2025 spring training were terrible. No one was even sure if guys like Clement, Schneider, Barger, etc… were major leaguers. Felt like a long season coming. Then Vladdy signed and everything changed

That's actually not true, go back and read what the "experts " said, not only did they not win they had a mostly barren prospect cupboard and had traded away some of what they had. Then last season happened

Tightest playoff series I’ve ever watched. A nail biter from start to finish. Had everything you could ask for in a playoff hockey series. A gigantic victory. Hello, Buffalo. #GoHabsGo

@LukewSavage Private companies that get handed a monopoly will not think “how do I make this more efficient” or “how do I improve the customer experience” they will think “how can I further monetize the fact that I have captured my customer base”

Private companies also need to give their investors a return, which means increased costs — most typically born by transit users. Also, a transit utility like airports or rail can't be allowed to fail. So if private owners mismanage it, the state has to bail them out.

The thing is some sectors are actually made worse by competition, or rather aren't amenable to having it because having multiple firms compete over a natural monopoly doesn't make sense.
Matthew@Priarie_Boi

@LukewSavage Privatization is good if there is competition. Without it, there are no guard rails to protect consumers.

CM Punk joins Mitsuharu Misawa as the second wrestler to have a ***** match in three separate decades. Misawa’s first came in 1985 against Kuniaki Kobayashi during his Tiger Mask II days, and his last came in 2003 after his amazing Budokan clash opposite Kenta Kobashi. CM Punk’s first came on 10/16/04 against Samoa Joe, and his recent one being this WrestleMania main event against another Samoan named Joe, Roman Reigns almost 22 years later.

@mattgurney Progressive for its time on race issues but up there with the Connery Bond movies for how normal it treats misogyny. As you say, a more mixed legacy than people on both sides acknowledge

Star Trek definitely has what we'd now call "woke" elements, and always has, but it's also a show that depicts a group of military officers serving aboard the navy ships of an expansionist, imperial-but-with-a-smile political entity. The characters are almost always very squeaky clean in their personal lives. In the entire history of Star Trek, have we seen a character cheat on a partner? Get divorced? Fans see what they want to see. Answer 1/13.
Alex McColl@AlexRMcColl

@mattgurney What’s your take on social conservatives who claim to love Star Trek while also insisting it’s never been socially progressive or woke? Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations, et al.
