Luminon Gaming: Official Statement 🇲🇽
In light of accusations of “stealing” and “locking” players, we deemed a disclosure surrounding our operations in the LATAM region is necessary to provide a clarity regarding our position and intentions.
Our primary goal was to support and develop talent in the LATAM Halo esports scene, providing opportunities where they were obviously lacking. We invested significant resources, time, and trust aiming to help the players build careers and elevate the region's competitive standing.
The truth is,
1. A player whose contract expired August 31st, had decided to scrim with another organization Sept 1st, as was their right, but returned the same day to sign a new contract with us.
2. During his absence that morning, we made an offer to a F/A to fill that open slot, which ultimately resulted in our organization having five players under contract by the end of the night.
3. This was not a pre-planned strategy to acquire or "lock" players, but an unintentional outcome of two independent contract signings.
4. We attempted to navigate this to determine the best roster configuration but unfortunately, our efforts were misinterpreted and misrepresented by some individuals & organizations, which lead to the false claims of "benching" and "locking" players.
5. In reality, behind closed doors, deals were made with our players, our integrity was questioned, and we became the target of false accusations.
All of this has created extremely uncertain circumstances for us so after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to step away from the LATAM region & release all of our contracted players. While this is heartbreaking for us, it seems to be the resolution that the community has demanded. We came to LATAM with a desire to contribute positively, but this experience has been both exhausting and disheartening.
That said, we remain committed to supporting esports talent globally. We hope that in the future, the door will open for us to return to LATAM and be welcomed with a different perspective, so we can once again work to create opportunities for future Esport athletes. We also want to extend our best wishes to all of our former players and hope to cross paths again.
