Chapel this evening...match day for Chaplains! We will sing as a boarding community in Mem hall for the first time in 20 months. Masked but singing together! First hymn; Guide me, Oh thou Great Jehovah. Hope to have some of our international students at chez Blair after.

20th anniversary of 9/11: will light a candle in chapel tomorrow. The picture? ..my uncle who was killed in action on another 9/11, 11th Sept 1944, drawn from memory by his father. Many families, many personal 9/11s down the years....much sadness, much healing to pray for. Amen

Virtuous circles! A rare medal to P Cunningham for Latin 1845 was given to the School this summer. We offered a gift to charity which was generously matched by the donator. Patrick Cunningham, 176 years later your effort in Latin has raised £100 for cystic fibrosis! Bene Factum

What a downpour we have just had! A very rare “Merchiston river” briefly emerged, but, so well drained and looked after are the grounds by the grounds staff, that it was gone within minutes. #ThankYouDay

Really good to have the students (who are staying here over half term) round this evening. The world comes to us...so much to learn from each other ...diversity and Dahl? variety and vegan masala? (a first for me!). Good company and good food is a universal language.

National Day of Reflection. We pause and remember. The Bell was rung at 12.01 and prayers were said for our nation and for all those grieving within our community and beyond. Lord in your Mercy, hear our prayer.

On St David’s Day, one of our 8 Dragons in the Mem Hall each uniquely carved; this is the only one with whiskers ( wouldn’t they get burned?). St David said “do the small things in life well”, very appropriate advice for Lockdown Lent. Diolch yn fawr iawn, St David!
