Hungary’s future PM, Peter Magyar, faces his first major criticism after appointing his brother-in-law, Márton Melléthei-Barna, as justice minister (R). Melléthei has been a close friend since uni and married Magyar’s sister, a judge in 2025. She suspended her judicial duties.

Ukrainian Hungarians publicly stated that they don’t have any issues with their rights in Ukraine. Mayor of Berehove reiterated this just yesterday

So much lost experience. So much lost history. Some of these families have been there for centuries.

Who'd I vote for in Europe

Yeah, if you say so. Magyar is a right-winger ran on Orban's policies on Ukraine and migration (but was more to the right than Orban!), the two biggest bones in Brussels's throat. He beat Orban fair and square. Ppl who see this as a victory for EU neoliberalism are bonkers.

🇭🇺 Official election results in Hungary. Tisza party: 141 seats (96 single-member constituencies/45 party list) Fidesz-KDNP: 52 seats (10 single-member/42 list) Mi Hazánk: 6 seats (0 single member/6 list)

It seems he meant it when he said in his victory speech that Hungary would not be a country without consequences.

The main reason why European governments led by the far-right are failing is poor economic performance. One of the biggest differences between Trump and Orbán is that the US economy – so far – performs quite well, whereas the Hungarian economy is a basket case. What RN, AfD, and Reform have in common is lack of an economic strategy. If they don’t know how to raise growth, they will be blown away. eurointelligence.com
