@jasonshiga The subtle version I've seen is vertical balloons for Japanese, and horizontal balloons + a different font for English. Possibly even allcaps for one and regular caps for other. The other standard is <Japanese> and English, but it's usually to indicate a "foreign"

Question for cartoonists: I have an idea for a book. The first 100 pages are set in Japan and all the dialogue is Japanese. The next 200 pages are set in America and 85% of the dialogue is in English. How the heck do I indicate what language people are speaking?!
